With the multinationals Unilever and Nestle along with the super-regionals such as Hood which has bought many dairy operations in the northeast, there is no way a Brigham's can survive.

Brigham's sold to Hood (tmiles)

A month or so ago, Brighams, an old line ice cream maker near Boston sold out to Hood. Hood is a large regional player, and Brighams sold premiun ice cream , mostly in supermarkets at $3.99 per round quart. I understand that Brighams was not a big mover unless it was on sale. A few weeks ago Brigham's said that there was no money left after the sale and payment of wages and secured claims. Suppliers got stiffed, but they had to "take it" if they wanted to keep selling to Brighams/Hood.
