(stricken_detective)

I remember them because my great grandma would keep them in her dresser drawers as cheap sachets. Every time I smell them I think of her.

So naturally when I saw them @ Walgreens, I picked some up. Tried to eat them & blech! I think they work better as a sachet & will get some to use as such if/when I get a real dresser.

Re:Are there any Violet Mint lovers out there? (mjp79)

Well, I just figured I would post this site. http://www.brownes.co.uk/acatalog/History.html
They make the violet cream chocolates that everyone was telling me about. Too bad it says out of stock. I will have to wait to try them.
Thanks
Re:Are there any Violet Mint lovers out there? (Twinwillow)

I love violet anything. In addition to my fondness for Choward's Violet confections, I also love Violet jelly and jams. I used to bring them back from France while vacationing there. They can be ordered online from stores in the US now.
Some better chocolate shops also make Violet creme filled chocolates.
In Dallas, the Paicugo gelato shops also do, a Violet flavor gelato. it's my favorite flavor from them.

They also do a Rose flavor that I love as well. And, I love Rose flavored confections as much as the Violet ones.

Re:Are there any Violet Mint lovers out there? (NYNM)

Yes, sen sen it is! Another grandmother candy.
PS: I believe I bought violet candies when I was in France. They came in oval tins, and you could get them in any train station. They had lots of flavors, but I remember the lavender pastilles. They were harder than Chowards, and round-ish. Very delicious.
Re:Are there any Violet Mint lovers out there? Not even sure if they are still made.

Re:Are there any Violet Mint lovers out there? (NYNM)

Well, I can't say I am a "lover" of them, but I do remember them. So different, so grandmother-ish. Pretty lavender squares, in brushed silver foil. Made by Choward. They also had a lemon flavor, I recall.

I am now reminded of a related candy, very small teeny tiny hard licorice squares. What were they???

Re:Are there any Violet Mint lovers out there? (mjp79)
Seems like I dont see many if any posts on Violet Mints? Guess I am one of the few that are addicted to them. Anyone like the Choward's Violets? I used to get mine at candydirect.com, but now get them from the factory at chowardcompany.com. I have a few friends that I got hooked on them as well. I never knew they had a Lemon Mint also, I love them now too. I cant seem to find any other pure Lemon Mints anywhere. Well, if you like Violets, post me a message.
