After asking my daughter who lives in NC to check and see if Walmart carries Hillshire Farms kielbasa, she checked. They do.

It's unfortunate that there aren't a lot of independant butchers
in the Carolina's....I've done so much research about hot dogs
and sausages, and I can tell you, in North Carolina, it's more
about what you put on top of the dog, than the dog itself.
Just the way it is. A regional thing...whereas up north, it's not
about the bbq, it's about the sauce.

There is a strong settling of Germanic people around Columbia
SC (hence the mustard BBQ sauce)...you might consider looking
around there.

in nc there are for sure 2 polish stores that have the best fresh kilebasa and smoked, plenty diffrent kinds, one is in north raleigh POLONEZ 5540 atlantic springs rd, raleigh, nc 27609, 919-790-1466, polonezdeli.com and the other one in greensboro, 5710 ff high point rd, 27407, 336-292-2888, integrodeli.net,

they also have polish pierogi (almost like home made), nothing like the ones from regular grocery store, and bunch of other things, check them out

Not totally impossible but close. I ent to college in NC but could never fugure out how those people could eat those bright red hot dogs. Besides looking bad they taste horrible.

However my daughter, a student at the University of North Carolina at Asheville stumbled across a place called Cats and Dawgs in the Grove Arcade in down town Asheville. No polska keilbasa but they go serve Vienna Beef (Chicago) hot dogs and polish sausage (thes the Dawg part of the name) as well as Italian Beef (also Chicago) and Cat fish sandwiches (Thus the Cats part of the name) The sausages are served on authentic Rosen's poppy seed hot dog rolls with all the fixins a Chicago dog is known for including the nuclear green relish.

You have my condolences Freebie.

My oldest daughter lives in NC and she can’t get good hot dogs, pork roll (A Jersey thing) or as we say in N. Jersey, kielbasy. It’s spelled kielbasa but for some reason everyone pronounces it “kullbasy”. Beats me.

I checked for places that ship kielbasa and the prices that they charge per pound are outrageous! First they bang you on the price and then again on shipping.

Only solution is to move where there are Polish people.

Help - Looking to find some good Fresh or Smoked Polish Kielbasa in the Carolina's. The stuff they package and sell in the stores as Polish Sausage ends up being a very poor excuse. Having spent many summers in Milwaukee with my grandparents - I know good Polish when I taste it! Since I am now in SC and all of the family has passed on - I miss my Polish connection. I know there are many places that sell Kielbasa in and around Milwaukee, Chicago and other areas. But shipping is so high. I would rather fill up my gas tank and drive 100 - 200 miles if needed to fill up my ice chest with some good sausage.

I'm living near Charlotte, NC - so does anyone know of a Mom and Pop shop that makes there own in the Carolina's? Or even a good butcher that knows how to make some good sausages? Help me please! I need my Polish fix!
