TTM can rationalize his eating habits with celeb-video, but you (BB) may want to ask about his taking one 'taste-bite' out of each piece of pie on the table ?? Or maybe he won't tell!!!
Meantime Amy Took delivery of her HOT BROWN. Chris got some good photos of the contents, but here is the unopened "sandwich"

Ann, I stand to be corrected anytime, but as I think back on my now distant research on the subject, I seem to recall something about the use of the pressure cooker beginning roughly around 1950-52--about the time the Colonel was preparing to franchise his recipe, one restaurant at a time. There's probably a comment on a thread somewhere on this site that might give a more definitive history of the use of the pressure cooker.

You'll note that the other guy in the second photo is reaching for the cookies on the table. I assure you that if he had reached for one of the slices of pie, he would have lost a hand.

Unfortunately, I was not able to defend both the cookies AND the pie, so one cookie was sacrificed to another patron.

Here TTM Proves he can out "PIE" his friend Buffetbuster when it comes to dessert selection after a fine RF Meal.

He asked if the Pie was an AYCE Dessert, and our Server replied that it was- So here is TTM with his dessert choice(s). I think this is a Roadfood Classic that may be used in evidence at a later time!! Match That, BB!!!!

Sounds good to me,Louis. I personally think it is the size of the chicken....Claudias probably serves the original, which was a skilllet fried version-only then did they use a pressure cooker...beg to disagree!

I used to enjoy KFC (back in the 1960's) in SoCal, and the Gino's franchise version in the 70's in NY and NJ. I really don't know if it was a change in the chicken and the recipe, or in my taste-buds... but the CSDH chicken reminds me of the 'old-days'. IMHO that is much better than the current version of KFC.

About 'Dress'- There was a real cross section in attendance Sunday afternoon. Lots of Senior Citizens in their Church clothing enjoying dinner after whatever their services were...and many families in much more casual dress. Since the weather was Sunny but quite cold, we didn't see any shorts and tee shirts, but we have during the Summoer months.
If our photo-reporters post some group shots, you'll get a better idea of the 'Fashion Plate' the RF group has become.

It's been about 35 years, Zeke, since I had some really good Kentucky Fried Chicken from the chain. But as I remember it, the taste was far more intense than it is today.

The KFC taste then is somewhat like it is today in very general terms, but today's version is nothing like it was in the 1960s. That stuff packed a wallop on the tongue.

Claudia Sanders does not serve the pressure-cooked version of the recipe; it serves instead the skillet-fried version, which is an older recipe that goes back at least to 1939.

For those of you who had fried chicken and can remember what real KFC tasted like back in the 50's and 60's - was there any similarity in taste ?

I may be down there this spring and would like to try a meal there especially the fried chicken and was curious about how close it was to KFC of 40 years ago - not modern day Kentucky FRAUD Chicken.

Is it casual dress there ?

Please excuse our delay at getting the photo report of this get-together posted. Both the RF Photgraphers were delayed in their trips home due to the Snow that swept thru the South and East area.
We are glad to hear they all made it home safely, and will now look forward to their reports on this and other RF Adventures!

A quick note- The meet-up went very well. In addition to Janet and I, Chris and Amy, TTM and his buddy Dave, we were joined by Bob (NC) who drove all the way down here frim Chicago to brighten our day!
Lots of good humor and exchanging RF stories thru the meal. Many good comments about the Veggies and Soups, and the Chicken as well. Amy was able to get her "Hot Brown" and managed to eat about half of it with Chris's help!

The other guys will post the photos here, but let me say we have ANOTHER Classic TTM Photo to share. Tune in shortly for a real winner!

We are getting ready for a fun day. Janet and I, minus the dogs (it is quite cold here), will be on our way in about an hour. The Scotties want to go, but leaving them in the cold truck for a couple of hours is not a good thing to do. They will be on guard here in the warm house, waiting for some Chicken-Liver treats !

Al, do you ( or anyone else ) know if the Ollie's Trolley south of downtown Louisville is still in business? If it is, is it open on Sunday? I haven't had an Ollieburger since the days of Lums, and I'd love to "renew the friendship".

This is about as casual a get-together as can happen. A Bunch of folks will meet AND eat ! No Agenda, No "Door-Prizes"...Plenty of cameras and good conversation. Since Louisville (U of L) is playing while we eat, and Kentucky Lost to LSU today, the folks who usually head to CSDH as part of a BBall day, will probably not be there !
Look for my Big Red Ford Supercrew with the Scotties looking out the window searching for TTM!!

Al, thanks for including me. I love Kentucky ( my mom's home state ), and I'm always looking for a good excuse to head down that way, even for a short visit. After reading all these posts about Claudia Sanders' place, I'm really eager to see what I've been missing out on. Sorry that I have been a little out of communication this week - S-W-A-M-P-E-D with work (always a challenge when heading out of town for a couple of days). I also managed a trip to south Florida on Wednesday for basketball and barbecue - but, that really only added to the amount of work that I had to complete before departure.

I am REALLY looking forward to tomorrow afternoon, despite not answering emails from Chris and Amy this week (among others). I have an early evening departure scheduled for SDF tomorrow night, so I will have some dawdle time available after Claudia Sanders, but not much.

Can't wait to see you guys tomorrow.

I am sure there will be room at the restaurant. The timing may affect you a bit, as I know that some of these folks will be airport-bound shortly after dinner. We'll be happy to see you again if you want to make the ride for an hour or so of dinner conversation. Remember Louisville is on Eastern Time.

I, too, have read nice things about the Science Hill Inn, but have not tried it personally. I will put it on the list of places to try to get to in the coming year!
