We're back to some serious reporting.

First, I should report we roadfooders had the honorary gift exchange. Ayersian brought fresh pork tenderloins straight from Iowa for Buffetbuster and me. I had mine for lunch and took the time to experiment with white balance settings on my kitchen counter north light. I went through all the settings to see which one worked best. This white balance was the outdoor shade setting.

Finding the right setting at Al's Breakfast to shoot without flash was difficult. One only wished they had more time to experiment but the lighting was fairly dark and diffuse with incadescent, LED and flourescent shooting out from the back room. The best thing you can hope for is a daytime visit sitting next to a window to get the best shots.

Anyway, my gift to Buffetbuster and the Ayersians was Pearson's nut candie bars. They are a St. Paul product. I think there might be an old Roadfood.com discussion about them. I thought about 25 CDs but heard that was not appropriate.

And last but not least, Grandson Jonah Hippert Stovall arrived this morning at 7:19 AM in La Crosse, WI. He will be the first born true cheesehead roadfooder in our family.

I will be heading for La Crosse tomorrow morning.

Pearson's Nut Goodies!!! Never to my liking as I don't care for the maple syrup flavor. But, my Dad gets a basket of those every year for Christmas. Congratulations on the baby.

Re:Descending on the Twin Cities March 20th (mar52)

Oh my that looks good! The soup looks like Lahksa Lemak (sp?)

And the other dishes look Indian except for the Momo.

Is it fusion cuisine or just dishes from surrounding countries?
Re:Descending on the Twin Cities March 20th (Davydd)

Here are some of the plates from Cat-Man-Do

Buffetbuster had a totally liquid meal

Goat Momo. I'm headed to La Crosse in the morning.
Re:Descending on the Twin Cities March 20th (Nancypalooza)

Awww on both counts! Congratulations Grampa Davydd--he is lovely--and it looks like y'all are having a wonderful time in the Twin Cities. Enjoy yourselves, and I hope Amy feels better.

Re:Descending on the Twin Cities March 20th (Davydd)

wanderingjew, The anticipation intermission discussion is over.

Re:Descending on the Twin Cities March 20th (MiamiDon)

wanderingjew

Miami Don

I know the number of Cuban restaurants in Miami far exceed the number of Haitian Restaurants, however I'm fairly certain that the majority of Haitian Restaurants in Miami far exceed the number in any other city in the US.

Probably true, but what I was trying to convey is that one might be able to count all of the Haitian restaurants on two hands. BTW, if you are ever in town again, I can make some recommendations beyond Tap-Tap on South Beach.
