(waydeg)

 I
Twinwillow

It was only after watching the segment that I realized they added bread crumbs to their meat. I found that kinda strange. You'd think they would be juicer without bread crumbs. However, I still think they serve the "number one" burger in Dallas.

I've read that adding a panade (milk and bread paste) to a burger helps to keep a burger moist and tender. I want a burger, not meatloaf. The best tasting burgers follow these steps:

Fresh, never frozen 80/20 ground chuck
Break meat into very small pieces
Add what you want as long as the pieces are no larger than the ground hamburger pieces (I grate onion and jalapenos, add cumin and garlic salt)
Work the meat as little as possible into the pattie size you like best - about 1/2" thick x the size of the bun is best for us
Put 'em on the grill, turn once - when juices run pink - pull 'em
Add cheese once their on the plate
ALWAYS a toasted sesame seed bun
Enjoy

Re:Diners, Drive-ins & Dives do Twisted Root Burger Co. in Dallas. I'll try that next time.

Re:Diners, Drive-ins & Dives do Twisted Root Burger Co. in Dallas. (DLnWPBrown)

Michael , I sometimes will take thick slices of sweet onion and will grill them before I flip the burger. Once I flip the burger I place the onion on top and finish with cheese on top. The onions basically carmalize on top of the meat.

Dennis in Cary
Re:Diners, Drive-ins & Dives do Twisted Root Burger Co. in Dallas. (DLnWPBrown)

Twin the only problem I had with what I saw was how much the meat was handled. I do very little to my burgers before I cook/grill them is so they don't get tough or dry. I can see adding everything in but that was the only thing I didn't like about it. Some of those burgers looked to die for.

Dennis in Cary

Re:Diners, Drive-ins & Dives do Twisted Root Burger Co. in Dallas. But the venison burger at that Twisted Root place looked mighty good, too.

Diners, Drive-ins & Dives do Twisted Root Burger Co. in Dallas. (Twinwillow)

Those of you who are familiar with my posts know how much I love the burgers at Twisted Root Burger Co. in Dallas. Tonight, Guy Fieri's popular show finally featured the segment they filmed at that restaurant in Dallas earlier this year.
Although, I don't feel they captured the full spirit of the restaurant, it was more than enough to make me want to go have lunch there ASAP!
Did anyone else see the show? What did you think?
