That's ok, they didn't serve pizza in Washington Too, something called ketchup on a ritz cracker- at least when I was living there !

I do not have any jobs lined up but yeah, this place is on restaurant overload and it should be no problem. Austin is still showing only 5.5% unemployment.

Beware!

Don't get me wrong. I love Austin - for a lot of the reasons that the article mentions. I also love Portland - also for a lot of the reasons this article mentions...plus the fantastic ambassador of the City of Roses, mr chips!

While the article does focus more on Portland, it does mention Austin. And, you'll notice that they reference one of the alternative Portland newspapers that has many restaurants on a death watch.

I, too, had been considering moving, but this economy doesn't seem like the time to make a major life change for me.

I do wish you all the best luck in quickly finding employment and this new endeavor.

Thanks... This is a photographic prelude to my roadtrip to Austin.
I do not have any jobs lined up but yeah, this place is on restaurant overload and it should be no problem. Austin is still showing only 5.5% unemployment.

One nice thing is that I arrived here when the Austin's weekly paper listed their "best of" results.

I really enjoyed our two trips to Pepe's. All the best to you in Austin, and I hope that one day my travels take me there. That is an outstanding pizza picture, and it is making me hungry right now. Thanks for going to Pepe's those two times and for being a real pleasure to be around. I hope that you can replicate the pizza experience and show the folks in Austin what they are missing.

Just remember, Modern does pack their pie in vacuumseal. I brought four pies to S.F. once as carry-on.

No more will I be able to sing the praises and enjoy the crisp char-crusted combination of heat and flavor that create the best pizza I know.
I have left Connecticut and I will not be back. Fortunately I had the opportunities to meet with Buffalo Tarheel, ayersian and TnTinCT at the Manchester location of Pepe's. They have been well documented.
But here I present to you a pie of special significance. The last pie.

It was a white clam with mozzarella and half pepperoni with sausage. The clams were especially juicy and I liked the sausage better than what I had in Manchester. Is this possible? I know I will never see a pie like this ever again.....

Nevermore......

But it's not all that bad. I moved to Austin. Plenty of food here. They do not have Elgin sausage or Earl Campbell Hot Links in CT......
