I found my tried and true recipe and they turned out great. It made 12 good-size popcorn balls.

Here tis:

I popped popcorn twice in a medium size covered pan and poured it (unsalted) into a extra large bowl

On the stove I cooked 1 1/3 cups of white sugar
One cup of water
1/2 cup Kayro syrup to soft crack stage (I use a candy thomo.)
Then added 1 tsp. white vinager and 1 tsp. vanilla extract and cooked to hard crack stage.

I buttered a spatula and my hands real well and poured the mixture over the popped corn. I mixed the mixture well and formed into balls (your hands and fingers can get burned and this is hot to handle but if you keep buttering your hands you will be ok). I placed the popcorn ball on a buttered sheet of wax paper and when they were cool, I wrapped them in plastic wrap.

Kids and grownups too like them a lot and I have to admit I ate three that night.
