(quickdog)

You take the good you take the bad you take them both and there you have the facts of life the facts of life. lol i couldn't resist that tv show popped in my head after reading this thread

In a way I see both sides to this. I agree with the others on it being a little too visual, but I think you have an idea that will work. Personally I would make it a little more mild. Maybe "Big Slicks just served another big weiner" with the girl on the logo. This way a guy or a girl can wear it. I know you may say it is no different but when you get too visual as in "BJ" it goes to a new level. This is jusy my 2 cents. I am a single, fairly young guy that has had my share of strip clubs and partying and even I think this is a tad too much lol. Not that age has anything to do with it. Maybe give it away to ladies at a night club for promoting your cart but I do not see a woman paying money to wear t shirts with slogans like that in their daily life.

I wouldn't waste too much energy arguing or debating or pointing out who's opinion is right or wrong. These are some good people with solid advice and experience. I wouldn't let a picture get in the way of getting good advice from someone later.

Good Luck I hope it works out

Re:First shirt decal... (TrentonDog)

The inner child(ish adult) in me likes the shirt design! If this is what Slick wants to do, then I say "go for it!" Maybe some folks are correct in that he will lose business because of it, maybe he will make some money (in a carpy economy) because people will see it as the playful humor it is. Ask 10 people there opinion on the designs, and you will get 10 different answers. Just be prepared to have people not agree with yours and not take it personally. It's only an internet forum.

Re:First shirt decal... If your come into this Forum and ask for opinions of your work you better be able to take criticism. Take the good and the bad and live with the comments. Ask me no questions tell me no lies...........There are many people in this site with very high values. I'm not surprised by the comments at all. Just because I don't agree with the saying doesn't mean I don't want you succeed.
When you go to a County fair there are 100 food booths. Everyone has a different taste. When you ask different people what is the best food booth you will get 100 different answers. To each their own....Its not up to me to judge you or your values. The one thing you will get from this site is the truth. Take that and do with it as you please.......Good luck .....................Bill............P.S I would make the girl a bit better looking....that is one hard looking Chic

Re:First shirt decal... (Curbside Grill)

OK I stated before I like the drawing and artwork. But as for printing on shirts, would leave the girl in bikini off and leave the slogan. If people are offended,so be it. Have a t-shirt collection with worst sayings and meanings than you present, from very upscale places, restaurants. Bought, in their gift shops. Granted I do not wear them in public, sister has bought them for me as well. I collect this stuff. Let me known when you intend to sell.

Eat responsably
Always use condiments
Re:First shirt decal... (doggydaddy)

.....interpretation of Betty Page......

This would be a better way to go actually. If you want a woman and a hotdog on a T-shirt, why not consider a style similar to WW2 bomber mascots? Betty Page did many and most of her shots with twice as much fabric as your picture shows. Using a style like that would appeal to all ages if your mascot is riding a hotdog like a dropped bomb. If it was good enough for a Flying Fortress, it will work for you.
Your mascot is physically impossible and and dressed by Fredrick's of Hollywood. I am reminded of a popular comic book character with teens:

http://www.powergirl.metrocity.com/pgadorjany.jpg

The funny thing is that if she had a hotdog in her hand, it would keep in line with your ideas. The point is that we have gone from when Betty was something that grandpa had hidden, to this being acceptable to all ages.

I saw a guy who was riding his bicycle on the downtown bike path with only a thong. Pure butt-cheeks from the backside. Wish I had a camera as posting it would demonstrate the point. Sure you can do it, but who wants to see it.

Here is a great T-shirt from a Roadfood favorite, Crif's. There is just a hint of innuendo.

mark

Re:First shirt decal... (OzDogs)

You know, I was thinking about a new recipe, the Osama Been Doggin. It was supposed to be one of our all-beef Hoffy franks served with lentils, shredded radishes and cucumber raita and served on a fresh Khandahari nan, and we had this logo all done up that said in Pashtu and Arabic "American beef, you can't get enough".

Our logo also featured a female, a kind of Arabian interpretation of Betty Page. Just like you used to see in classic American calendar art. Just like all the pictures you saw in magazines growing up. Just like the women's underwear section in the Sears catalog that no proper American boy ever, ever, once looked at. For such things are unthinkable. But the artist we got drew those perfect pinup gal legs. And the effect is unmistakable. You just want to say "great gams" and "hubba-hubba!" and "hi doll-face".

I dunno, I thought it would just be a neat regional flavor to introduce. I picked it up in travels and decided to maybe Americanize it. But after this thread, I'm thinking America might just not be ready to have sex sell consumer products. And if you think Americans get offended, you should see what happened to my first cart in Islamabad.
Re:First shirt decal... I have 1 purple heart and you talk about downgrading the morals of this country? From my shirts? Do you think a person who lost there job and cant pay there bills is going to give a ratts butt about my shirts? Come on if you don't like it don't comment, but don't tell me I am screwing with the morals of this fine nation. Yeah i know the saying "Two Wrongs" I live by that rule.

To all who dont like it dont comment. I have figured out that I just dont get it. There is #1 No nudity #2 no cuss words # 3 if someone buys a shirt there going to know its from a Hot dog guy and thats my company name so they should figure it out. So the "I just ate a huge Weiner "Hot Dog" for Big Slicks<------ my company name. I quess in Arizona we are just diffrent. I quess we have no marols. Maybe I should go outside and Burn a flag. That was a stupid post.

I was a Dustoff flight medic in the Army with two tours in Vietnam, and assorted other excusions. I also have a son who will graduate from college next week and who will be commissioned as a 2nd LT in the Army. He will be leaving for Ranger school shortly thereafter. You don't have the high ground with military service as to be able to dictate whether or not someone gets to post with ANY kind of comment...positive OR negative. As to whether military service is an arbiter of good judgement or moral sense, it really is absurd to use military service as some kind of shield. Of course those in and out of the military make bad decisions of all kinds. Thank goodness the majority don't follow that path.

While your shirt has #1. no nudity, #2. no cuss words, or whatever the heck is meant by #3, it also has #4, a clear double meaning that the female is talking about doing a BJ. I hope you're not even going to pretend that that isn't pretty clear.

So, yes, your shirts do contribute to a worsening of the moral climate. You may argue that it is all relative, to which I would argue that it all adds up. If the shirt is so harmless and just innocent fun, then how about letting your kids wear one to school?

BTW, regardless of anything else, from one combat medic to another, I thank you for your service and wish you the best for your business.

Re:First shirt decal... Laughing simply underscores my point: your threshold of what is decent or not has obviously been affected to the negative.

Re:First shirt decal... I don't buy it. Your argument that "other crass stuff exists so mine is ok" is an example of someone using the bad behavior or judgement of others to justify their bad behavior or judgement. You will never win me over with that kind of argument. In my view, there is no reason to contribute to the downward coarsening of our culture just because others do it.

Yes thats what I am tring to do change the culture. Stop. lol enough. I am done. have a great evening.
Re:First shirt decal... (OzDogs)

Holy smoke guys, it's a T-SHIRT. I know it's a very in-your-face t-shirt and I know a lot of us seem to be deeply conservative folk but in this world are worse things. Look at it as just marketing.

If BigSlicks marketed primarily to church groups, I'd say he has a branding identity problem. That aside, this type of stuff has a segment of the market. Especially in Arizona. There are whole different standards for what "well dressed" means and what's socially acceptable. This kind of punchy youth-art is very much in style out here so I know BigSlicks is onto something.

Put 50 us us at any local fair. If BigSlicks has his frontage covered with cartoon vixens and he has heavy metal blaring, all else being equal, he's getting the business. And there's something else a lot of us don't understand. I sure don't. But this "viral marketing" thing. These young people will make their own market AROUND you from what I'm reading.
Re:First shirt decal... You are the second person I have ever heard of with that name with Dick being the other.

I would not wear the shirt either but to each his own. Good luck.

yes sir, My grandpa....
Re:First shirt decal...
