I've been in Sarasota for 20yrs and have never heard of Anita's..Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to motor down that way and give them a try.

Anita's does have good burgers and also a lot of other homestyle comfort food. Great well cooked breakfasts, lunch and dinner specials. Like a diner but better.

John, I haven't seen a place like that, unfortunately. It must not be there anymore. I would have patronized it as we love fresh juice.

About 10 years ago there was a small wood framed building just south of Nokomis, on the East side of 41, that sold fresh juice's, apple, cherry, etc, by the gallon. Just curious as to whether or not it's still there.

I just tried that. It gave me a page about the Insider and said at the top, "sorry, this page is for Insider members only".

Go up to the top right to "My Roadfood" and you can change your status. I tried to change mine and it looks as though I did at that page but on screen it still shows Newberry, FL.

I forgot when I posted this to tell you where Nokomis is. It is 2 miles north of Venice and about 10 miles south of Sarasota. Nokomis is just a little bitty place and if you blink, you'll miss it.

Last year we moved here to Nokomis; one of the guys we had working on the house told us about the best burger around--Anita's Family Restaurant in Nokomis (Rt. 41, Tamiami Trail, South Nokomis). We went there and it was just as he said. Juicy, thick, grilled burgers, good fries, fresh veggies--big slices of red tomato, nice lettuce, thick slice of sweet onion. I eat mine rare and it was just perfect. If you are driving 41, be sure to hit this one. Nice folks, too!
