Part of his route was into the Calif. gold country, Mariposa. Occasionally he'd bring home a 6-pack of Saspirilla from a market there. It was always a big treat. He'd also get Horehound candy there too.

Re:Sarsparilla (leethebard)

Sioux City is fine...commercial, but a good sasparilla!

Re:Sarsparilla (Bella Caffe)

"You boys got a good Sasparilla?" - "We got a Sioux City Sasparilla."- "Well I guess thats as good a sasparilla as any." - The Stranger from The Big Lebowski

Re:Sarsparilla (exsquidao)

Huge difference between White Birch Beer and Root Beer, the White Birch Beer I grew up on was from Foxon Park, it is clear and has no resemblance to Root Beer, they also make very good Root Beer but in no way does the flavor profile of either match.

Re:Sarsparilla (NYPIzzaNut)

Beverly K

What is this flavor? It tasted a lot like root beer but with a licorice note. I'm thinking that there is some sassafrass root and sasparilla root in the mix somewhere. I haven't been able to find it here in AK, though.

David O.
Re:Sarsparilla (beijinger)

any major manufacturer out there that make sasparilla haven't had it since a kid.
