Still Smokin' BBQ on Ohio State Route 32, at the intersection of Eastwood Rd (Williamstown/Mt Orab border) has just opened for the season once again. They are still open only from Thursday through Sunday. Tel 513 546 4810.

Poore Brothers kettle style potato chips (made in AZ) are now available at all Sav-A-Lot stores in SW Ohio - these are my favorite kettle chips - they are offering 5 oz bags of original, bbq and and jalapeno flavors for $1.19 - I just found this out when I walked in their Georgetown OH store a short while ago.

Our IGA in Georgetown closed down recently but the Sav-A-Lot Supermarket across the street remains open. I used to get the greatest Italian tomato sauces (bottled) in the IGA dollar aisle - it is still available at any other IGA.

The Sav-A-Lot just started stocking Poore Brothers Kettle potato chips in 3 flavors, original, jalapeno and BBQ in 5 oz packages for an introductory price of $1.19 - this brand used to be sold at Meijer's but they stopped selling the brand a while back - you cannot even get Poore Brothers chips at Jungle Jim's, as far as I am aware. Up until Sav-A-Lot started selling them just recently the only was to get them was via mail order from Poore Brothers HQ in AZ.

The kettle chips sold by Poore Brothers are the best I have ever tasted - I recommend them heartily. Here is the Wiki writeup on them and Poore's wbsite links:

Has anyone tried LeDoux's Restaurant and Bar in Troy (north of Dayton in Miami County) at 118 W. Main Street (OH 41)? Linky http://www.ledouxsrestaurant.com/

I remember former WING FM 102.9 (used to play classic rock) had a DJ named Don LeDoux who hailed from Louisiana (always yelling "AaaaaaayEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!"), and I'm pretty sure it's the same guy because the place specializes in Cajun food; there's a certificate honoring Don in the hallway! I went there Monday and had some Meat Jambalaya which I thought was pretty good!

One note: The restaurant closes between 2:00 and 4:30 between the lunch and dinner times of the day.

.......this sounds like my kind of place...little too far though for even me..I will stick with New Orleans to Go in Blue Ash..

Stacey's/Duff's Buffet in Wilmington reopened just before Christmas as Buck-A-Roos, under the same ownership/management as previously, as a cafeteria style restaurant, with basically the same types of food and reduced amount of desserts, and no salad bar, with most offerings priced at one dollar an item. I had misinformation - their hours have not changed nor have their days they are open - they are closed still only on Sunday and Monday thru Thursday they are open 11 am -10 pm and on Friday and Saturday 11 am - 11 pm - we had deep dish pizza, lasagna and a Philly steak sub and all were excellent as usual.

Thanks for the update. We haven't been there in a while...hmmm, maybe tonight...
They have spoiled me on pizza, now that I know how really good pizza should taste.

We lost our dear friend Frank late last week - he and I comprised the original Lunchbunch duo. His health had been on the decline for years and he finally succumbed. I do not know if the Lunchbunch will continue, at this juncture, but it was great fun while it lasted. RIP Frank.

The wife and I finally tried SmoQ last night, and here's our reaction in a nutshell:

The Good: My side dish of mashed potatoes with bacon and onion milk gravy; the wife's side of bacon and cheese grits; the waffle portion of my order of chicken and waffles; the complimentary basket of butterscotch corn muffins; our server, Alisa, who was genuinely friendly and helpful (and received a very generous tip indeed).

The Meh: The chicken portion of my order of chicken and waffles (overcooked chicken breast that the breading refused to stay attached to when one so much as waved a fork in its general direction; in other words, when you cut into it, the thing just became a dry, crumbly mess); my wife's side of succotash; the house salad that I ordered with an apparently homemade but very "it-just-got-squeezed-out-of-a-bottle" tasting barbecue ranch dressing.

The Bad: The curly-haired douchenozzle manager with a highly pronounced 'tude who "greeted" us (in only the very loosest interpretation possible of that term) when we walked in the restaurant; the hushpuppies, which were dense and flavorless (unless you consider "greasy" to be a flavor); my wife's brisket, which was as arid as the Mojave.

The Obscene: The fried ribs appetizer. After barely gagging down one of these monstrosities, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to stomach so much as one bite of my entrée (<--this statement is NOT hyperbole). Think dense on top of heavy on top of leaden, all of it enrobed in a coma-inducing, super-sweet glaze, dipped in an unremarkable batter, and deep-fat-fried to within an inch of its life.

Well. At least I can say that I finally tried it.

Hehe, the fried ribs are my favorite thing on the menu, but I guess they're not for everyone.

Our servers have always been very good. Never had the manager problem before but you're not the first person I've heard mention something like that.

My wife and I have eaten at the Mio's in Mariemont for 25 years. We had our first date there at 13 years old (yes, 13!). We've never had a bad experience at that Mio's. We consistently get good delivery from the Hyde Park Mio's, but there's little in the way of seating there. Other than that, we've never tried another. Our hearts are stuck on the one in Mariemont :)

I'll second TJ's assessment for the Mio's on the east si-ede of Cincinnati. Anderson Twp. and Mount Washington have always been good to me.

That's a shame it's not consistent.

I've eaten there a couple of times. My only complaint is that they had the TV tuned in to "Entertainment Tonight" on CBS.

I'll have to try some of the other locations for a comparison.

The ones in my part of town - Mt Washington and 8 Mile locations - have always been good, at least for me; but I've heard too many reports of spotty food not to concede that the chain has some issues with consistency

I've eaten at the Lebanon Mio's several times as part of a larger group and I can remember having to nurse a beer longer than usual. It always seemed kind of empty on the Thursday nights I was there, which struck me as a little odd.

Fortunately there's a Donatos out by Kroger.

Currently used for franchise pizza chain which will be relocating upon sale of property.

We drove by a few days ago in the early evening. A delivery car was pulling into the lot but there seemed to be no dine-in customers - either the dining room is closed or customers are being scared off by the sale signs.
