Grew up in the midwest, they arent hard to find just about any place....if you want to know how to make one, its super easy...take frozen pie shell, defrosted, core and peel an apple, stuff the insides of the cored part with all of your spices (typical apple pie spices) mixed with brown sugar. Drizzle melted butter over all, seal in pie shell. (shortened version---cut pie shell in square to form around apple, place apple first on pie shell before filling) seal edges by pinching, bake til done...this is out of my head memory, but just look up apple dumpling and you will find a whole array of recipes.

wgbryon

Does any know of, or remember a place in the midwest that made an apple pie using one whole apple? I saw it on a food show a few years back, (can't remember the show's name either), bonus points for the show's name!

Seems to me it was in Ohio, Indiana or Illinois, but I could be wrong.
THanks for any help.

Bryon

Re:Whole apple pie (NYPIzzaNut)

I don't know but I get my apple pies from Mennonites and Amish in Brown and Adams County OH and they are out of this world.
Whole apple pie (wgbryon)

Does any know of, or remember a place in the midwest that made an apple pie using one whole apple?
