Aren't we losing perspective here?

It’s not like he broke into peoples’ houses, stole their beloved and spoiled pets, and then made them fight to the death.

These dogs would not have been bred in the first place if it were not for dog fighting. Which would be better from a dog’s perspective: (1) be born, be given food and shelter, be given medical care, grow up and then sooner or later probably die doing what your instincts tell you to do, or (2) never be born in the first place?

Let's do a thought experient here: It's Roman times and you find yourself being stuck as a gladiator. You get born, live free for a number of years, then get enslaved after losing a battle, and get impressed into being a gladiator, and then killed by that other gladiator who was capable of beating the crap out of you in front of 20,000 people, then stabbing you to death so he could live another day.

Except for that last day, were your first twenty years an ok trade off for being the afternoon's entertainment and dying a horrible, painful death in the Coliseum?

Human beings have responsiblities for the anmials in our care and while people can be and are, at the low end of wrong-doing, jerks, and at the other end, murderers at worst, I can think of no ethical universe where cruelty for entertainment's sake is a moral thing to do.

Bear-baiting used to be entertainment too in medieval tmes, but was it the right thing to do to capture a bear and let dogs kill it for sport? Is that sport? No, it's cruelty and the mindset that accepts cruelty as entertainment has no place in an enlightened society.

I agree. He lacks integrity. There's got to be somplace somewhere that would hire him to clean.

However, what if he was forced to work with Dog the Bounty Hunter & together they worked with law enforcement to shut down all the puppy mills?

So, why do you think the NFL should be different? Because they can make millions? Sorry, get a job sacking groceries. comparitively? yes. It's not even close. But more importantly, when a collegiate athlete gets convicted, sentenced and serves 2 years for a felony, you don't see that kid back on the field in college. There's no comparison. College athetes sure do make mistakes. They often lose their scholarship and never return to college sports because of it.

Pete Rose really only hurt Pete Rose's reputation, not the rep of the game of baseball. I don't think steroids will ruin the reputation of baseball for all time.

Except the records are tainted now. Baseball, more than any other sport is statistics-obsessed and the Steroid Years have forever queered its records.

I have no problems at all with the names, and I consider those who do to be beyond nuttiness and thus, not worth bothering about. But, when it comes to the Browns, a team I loathe, they're named after Paul Brown. And the only people who could legitimately object to that name are those who rightfully despise Paul Brown (and his incomptent son Mike) and his Cincinnati Bengirlies.

P.S. I'm sure the Cincinnati contingent here -- namely TJ and his pals, who actually believe Cincinnati chili is chili -- will take exception to my comment about the Cincinnati Police Blotters.

I read in the local paper that he could end up in New England. They did at least talk to him. He needs to work to settle his bankruptcy......my brother says that the 1st $750k he makes goes to claims. Were I owed money, I'd hope that he got some work, and soon. He has taken 2 yrs off and is near the end of his career (if he has one at all).

Michael, The Skins have no interest in Vick, "at this time". If Dan Snyder signed him he would be run out of town.

For several years the Bengals had a reputation for signing players with bad personal histories. The team took a lot of grief for that (in addition to some bad playing records too). It seems that the management has listened to the community in more recent acquistions.

I really depise the Vick brothers for their attitudes and demonstrated criminal behaviors. I see no evidence that those life-styles have changed. The only "Sorry" I have heard is when both of them got caught...Mike at the Dogfights and the brother after he stomped (w/cleats) a downed player in the end-zone of his last college game. As I said--"Lowlife Behavior"

I agree with mr chips that he paid his debt to society and should be reinstated by the league. Having said that, I hope no team signs him. But we all know, there is no chance of that happening.

I know I'm in a minority but Mr Vick was caught, punished and lost millions of dollars. Let him play football and continue to show public contrition. I think the Dolphins and their wildcat would be a great fit as might Minnesota and its running game.
