No pics yet but BIG NEWS!!!!!!!

In the Backyard BBQers category: Fat and Chili (that's me and my cooking pardner) 1st place Ribs!!! (We won a plate and $500!) Also scored a 3rd place in the "Anything But" contest with my Cajun Gumbo Pizza (We won the right to say those words, no prize money or plates!)

In the Pro Class: Big Butt BBQ (the Ranucci's) won Shoulder (I think $1200 and a big ass shiny Victory Cup) and are now guaranteed a spot in MEMPHIS IN MAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roadfooders delight in knowing some of your very own are BBQ cooking Champs!

That sucks. I thought I had read that they were. Good news is that we have a Rest. Depot now and can get our meat at a much more fair price than before. CRAP!

Hey Ed, since we will all be in the same area, I can pretty much guarantee a stop by! We had thought about going pro this year but decided one more year to get used to it all and then we will be hangin with the big boys in 2010!

The Backyard-ers get local "celebrities" and organizers, etc as judges. So we are not judged by the trained MBA folks. But we actually got a rave review from a trained judge who was walking past and we grabbed him. We'll see!

Howdy Q fans!!!!

One month until the annual pork and beer fest here in Charltotte NC.

This year, after a disappointing 12th out of 52 last year, Matt and I will be entering pretty much everything. Butts, ribs, bloody mary, and I will be entering 7 original recipe BBQ sauces! We have declared this the year of Vic and Matt! I'm looking forward to seeing the gang from Ranucci's in Endwell NY (even better this year, the pros and us backyard slobs will be in the same contained area!). The dates are Sept. 11 and 12 (though I always tell folks that visiting on the 12th gets you bunches of free Q. If your coming, I beg you to stop by and have a beer (or bloody mary) with Fat and Chili BBQ and eat some free meat! All hail the year of Vic and MAtt!
