It seems as though the vendors are really upping the ante on the fried food options. Today we went to the Erie County Fair (humbly named America's Fair - no kidding) and noticed an amazing choice of options. We had the fried twinkie - pretty good and the fried chocolate cookie dough - also pretty good. We took a pass on the other offerings, including fried oreos and fried cheesecake. It truly is amazing how many fried desserts you can find. I would not have been surprised if the losing contestants in the rubber duck races were fried up and sold: someone would have found them tasty. Of course no one forced us to eat all the tasty and extremely unhealthy food today - I don't think there was a green vegetable within five miles of the place.

Any Chiavetta's barbeque chicken there?

I remember the dutch deep fried peanut SNICKERS as a Time-Bomb, to fat, to greasy, even the dutch customers avoided this deep fried "Snack", a typical tourist-trap.

One weekend in Groningen, gained at least 5 pounds, to my body weight, not to talk about the so called "Coffeeshops", if you like them, and the very special cookies...

You'd love the State Fairs here in the U.S. - deep fried corn dogs, candy bars, Twinkies, cheese curds, and God only knows what they'll have this year, all to be eaten as you stroll through the Fair and look at all the exhibitions.

The dutch people like all food "Deep Fried", whatever, Cheese, Sausage, Noodles, Vegetables, you name it...

"Heavy" stuff for a german stomach...

"Fleischkroketten" is the very HEAVY stuff, lokes like this...

Oha, very tasty, but also lethal stuff...

This is typical fair food in the states. I tried it once. I won't be trying it again.

Several years ago, in the town of Groningen (Holland) I tasted a deep fried SNICKERS (Peanut) candy bar for the first time. It was tasty, but... very "heavy" in my stomach, not a everyday snack for me...
