That is what I consider going to the coast. Haven't been there for 8 years now.

Jenn, does Cayucos still have the play area down on the sand to the left of the pier?

Re:All I meant to do was stop for gas in Cayucos.... (Jennifer_4)

We were on our way back home after another lovely day trip to the central coast area of California...we had seen plenty of dolphins and seals..had some great beach time, and ate some amazing sandwiches from Soto's Market in Cambria. (Going on their 97th year)
All I wanted to do at the end of the day was get gas and go home... but my little girl, God bless her, kept making a fuss about a sign she saw at the mini mart where we got gas...it said.. "homemade cookies, sandwiches, and treats".. I told her "it's probably no big deal...we're not going in.... but she's adorable and finally wore me down..and I'm so glad she did, because what we found was truly an unexpected treasure...
Inside this average looking mini mart was a full sized bakery and deli counter, full of delicious looking sandwiches and bakery items, which appeared to be homemade by the size and odd shapes of some of them. Since we had neither the time nor appetite to get much.. we settled on 2 "DoHo"s (vanilla and chocolate cake donuts split, filled with cream cheese filling and drenched in ganache) and the biggest squarest chocolate chip cookie I'd ever seen. Everything was delicious and we have a new fave one stop shop now in the area! I'm looking forward to trying the pork roast sandwich and the giant square fruit turnovers next.

Cayucos Gas and Mini Mart
198 Ocean Ave
Cayucos, CA.
