My favorite cookie growing up.

Does anyone remember Sunshine's little chocolate chip cookies?
They were small and crunchy with little "ridges" around the top. I liked them, too.

That is true but my wife is sure Sunshine made them also and made them better but I can find no record on the Net of them being involved with them.

I seem to remember a lot of companies making a similar looking cookie...just weren't called Mallomars.

That is true but my wife is sure Sunshine made them also and made them better but I can find no record on the Net of them being involved with them.

I love 'em, but it's iffy from one year to the next if they'll be around. Last year Wal Mart had them, even priced the same as other Nabisco cookies @ 2 pkgs. for $5. The year before, I found a small supply of mallomars at Big Lot for $2 a box, and I probably bought up most of their supply. (I keep them in the refrigerator, and they do fine).

I have to say that one of the best things about this time of year in the "Shadow of the Big Apple" is the start of Mallomars season. The best cookie ever. If you haven't tried one, please do, it may not grab you at first, but it will. With them only on the the shelf for 5 months a year, you;ve created a craze that has lasted 90 years. My Dad introduced me to them as I have to my son and daughter and I hope they pass it down the generations. And the regional (I believe) supermarket, Shop Rite has taken full advantage of Mallomars fans like me and have their annual 4 days sale...one box for $1.88, normally it's over $3.50. I bought 8 boxes today. I'll buy more over the next few months to build a small stockpile for next summer. Any other Mallomar fans out there?
