J. Clinton.Safire said he had thought about calling Slick W. a prevaricator,or a dissembler, then he said why beat around the bush and just called him out as a liar.Apparently Slick W. responded to the press that he wanted to "punch Safire out".Ah that was sweet.
Re:William Safire RIP (the ancient mariner)

Mr Fish, it would appear that our school teachers don't teach English anymore. And very little History also.

Re:William Safire RIP (Billfish)

I'm surprised he lived this long, given the sad state of the English language at this point in time.Everything is acronyms, nouns being used as verbs ("I will partner with you"),text message talk "how r u 2day",and just plain ignorant stuff like spelling "the" as "da".Vaya Con Dios,Mr Safire, you fought the good fight.

Re:William Safire RIP (The Travelin Man)

The guy who played Captain Kirk died?
Re:William Safire RIP (the ancient mariner)

I looked forward to his guest appearances on Sunday Morning TV.
He spoke so easily and clearly, making his points with such common sense.

Didn't know about the feast after the fast Fieldthistle, but it sounds like something he would do. A very good man-------I'm sure he will have an honored spot in Heaven.
Re:William Safire RIP (Fieldthistle)

 Hello All,
Another great, thinking conservative, that made my
mind ponder and wander into ideas that I might not
have ventured into, has slipped into new reality and
left our reality a bit more empty.
A man that also loved his God. Andrea Mitchell spoke
this morning of how he and his wife would invite those who
were ending the fasting after Yom Kippur for a good meal and
good communion of love and friendship.
Let his peace be enriching and evergrowing.
Take Care,
Fieldthistle
Re:William Safire RIP (MikeS.)

Yes he was and yes he will.
