When a plot's suspense revolves around whether the cake will be done on time, or whether it will collapse or not, then it's time to pick up a novel and get reacquainted with a real plot.

I kind of like the Barefoot Contessa shows, but it seems that all the ones I've seen (not many, admittedly) feature the Contessa laboriously cooking for a dinner party that her daughter or niece is having, while that daughter or niece is out buying flowers. And then, the Contessa isn't even at the dinner. That strikes me as kind of sad, in a comic sort of way.

I'm also a bit annoyed by the camera's focus on Giada's bust during her shows.

I find Ted Allen annoying.

Sorry, that was more than one thing!

Re:One thing that's wrong with the Food Network (1bbqboy)

not having cable can really be a blessing
Re:One thing that's wrong with the Food Network (boyardee65)

There a lot of shows on food network that I don't watch. For various reasons I will not watch Emeril ( over enthusiastic audience and over used "BAM")
Paula Deen, ( too saccharine for my taste.)

Sandra Lee, (how many times do we have to see her with soft focus?)

The Neelys, (Cloyingly sweet!)

Challange, (too esoteric.)

 Shows that I will watch:

Throwdown! with Bobby Flay, (kinda cool to lose or win against a legend.)

D.D.D. with Guy Fierri, (funky and fun.)

Iron Chef, (I like the competition part of it.)
