It does have lemon and lime juices as well as a long list of other fruit and veggie contents, but by looks the plastic 'cup' is more than 95% peeled shrimp.

Re:The Ultimate Marinated Shrimp (chewingthefat)

Al, where exactly in the store, I've never seen that in our Costco, we do have lime marinated shrimp which I got a pint of yesterday, is that what your talking about? And yes Dawn I can speak somewhat from a proper perspective--- have been married to a Pedro Pan Cubana for 20 years. Chill and be well.

Russ
Re:The Ultimate Marinated Shrimp (chewingthefat)

DawnT

Huh? Is this a gringo version of Cheviche? Considering the amount of vinegar and the vinegar in the capers, you probably don't even need to pre-boil the shrimp. The acid will "cook" the shrimp. Lime juice works great too.

Thanks for the heads up Dawn, I' ve only made this maybe 250 times and BTW vinegar is not used, ever by itself, to make Cerviche, lime and lemon juice, si, vinegar, non, some styles of Cerviche call for some vinegar. Vinegar you get in the store has about 5% acidity, flavors and helps to marinate, does no cooking.
Re:The Ultimate Marinated Shrimp (cy_dugas)

THis is very similar to drunken shrimp we sometimes eat here in south Louisiana. Boil the shrimp for only about 2 minutes, remove from boil into a bowl, add a can or two of beer, a 1/2 cup of vinegar, onion slices, lemons cut in half, and additional seasonings (herbs, etc.)

Let sit until cool and place in fridge. Eat the next day. Very good.

cy

Re:The Ultimate Marinated Shrimp (DawnT)

 Huh?
