The serving portions were sinfully huge, and the meal was very good. I will say, though, that the overall attitude of the service staff was less than satisfactory. I got the feeling that since I wasn't a weekly regular, I didn't matter quite so much.

Unfortunate, as the food itself was wonderful.
Re:Gene and Georgettis (branedamag)

I haven't been to G & G's in a couple of years but it would be a shame if it has gone downhill. I've been going there on and off for about 30 years.

Re:Gene and Georgettis (uncledaveyo)

Here is the NYT take on their garbage salad...

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/28/dining/281frex.html

Re:Gene and Georgettis (Richard Parett)

I know this is strange but can anyone tell me what goes into Gene and Georgetti's garbage salad?
Re:Gene and Georgettis (plb)

I was there recently, but I didn't have steak (I had just had two Italian beef lunches). The steaks sure looked though.
Re:Gene and Georgettis (mikeam)

 Harry Carays

http://www.harrycarays.com/home.html

Re:Gene and Georgettis (Michael Stern)

 Amen, Mr. Mayor!

Re:Gene and Georgettis (mayor al)

Being an 'old-geezer' with my last major steakhouse stop in Chicago dating back a couple of years, I will still stand by my enjoyment of Carson's on North Wells for either a great Steak or some really messy ribs. Not part of todays high-pressure Steakhouses this old-time landmark has never treated me wrong.

Re:Gene and Georgettis (collinf)

I've been to the Gibson's steakhouse on Rush street and the one in Rosemont and both have been very good.

Gene and Georgettis (danimal15)

Lots of bad reviews online recently.
