I know I should stay away, but like a mosquito to a bug zapper I must go.

The other end of this discussion is that if I am reading a forum, I will participate. And I really don't think our restaurant professionals need me to tell them how to run their wienie wagons. So the blocking function also saves them from certain annoyance and frustration.

Yeah, because heaven forbid they'd actually want to hear from real customers.

I used to read the hot dog forum when I first started reading this site but it's very repetitive and boring and I'm not into hot dogs anyway so I have it blocked. I still read the Restaurant Professionals forum; it's more germane to this site than the Chains and Off Topic forums I think.

I was looking at my Control Panel and I can't block any of the forums except Lunch and Dinner, I can only block individual subforums. But that's strange that I can block the Lunch and Dinner Forum which seems to me the heart and soul of the site - it's what I come here for, not the constant bickering of the regulars or home cooking or some of the others I wonder what happens if you block that forum? Maybe your membership gets automatically canceled if you block that forum?

Agree they have no biz on Roadfood...let them create there own special web site. I am not driving more than 10 feet to visit a hot dog cart, and could care even less about all the politics involved.

I disagree. If the site's owner says they are OK here, then that's it; they are OK here. We have the ability to make the site fit our preferences; with the professionals section blocked, the site fits my preferences. Beyond that, I don't care. I don't complain about how much noise the neighbors make if I don't hear them, after all. If Mike and the Sterns want a site with restaurant professionals, and they also give me a place to have fun, what else is there?

I personally love the Restaurant Pro's section of the board... But can understand why others would have no interest, unless they where in the food service industry.. But thanks to Brad, and others that pointed out it can be filtered out! (Bad moderator here, never knew about the filtering option until today)...
As a side note, Roadfood is Golden when it comes to vendors, pros and mom and pop shops being able to discuss ideas and matters of the biz.... All with the idea of hopefully becoming Mr. & Mrs. Sterns next stop checking out their goods!

I like hot dog vendors just fine. And I LOVE their hot dogs. But I prefer to not be part of their discussion, and to not overhear it. This way, everyone is happy! It's as if there was a perfect solution for cell phones in public places; there isn't, but there is one for hot dog vendors at Roadfood.

I spent my whole career in stationary establishment...I hang with the people on wheels now..I love MY MOBILE KITCHEN...I go to the people...My Gypsy Life style....

I successfully filtered out all posts from that section last year. If you need help, ask and I'll try to remember what I did to accomplish that.

I have zero interest in hot dog carts and the like, so why can this forum not be hidden???????????? It is irritating when 1/3 of the posts are from hot dog vendors..............
