Your route sounds just about right except you head west on Becher to 6th and then turn left (south). I'd say that Lincoln is probably 2 or 3 blocks south of Becher. THE Polish church in Milwaukee, St. Josaphat's Basilica is on the SW corner of 6th & Lincoln. Turn left there and Serbian Old Town is just on the other side of Chase on the North side of the street. That church, which is probably the prettiest in Milwaukee and well worth touring, was bulit from 200,000 tons of reclaimed bricks when Chicago's Federal Building was razed in 1896.
It is modeled on Rome's St. Peter's Basilca and has one the largest copper domes in the world.

Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (abe_froeman)

Mr. Maki and I are in!
Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (BuddyRoadhouse)

Looks like, if you're coming from the south, you get off I-94 at Becher, head west to Sixth and double back south to Lincoln. Any better suggestions?

Buddy
Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (MilwFoodlovers)

We'd need to know how many folks are in before making a rez. I've got 9 firm with Abe, Mr. Maki, Braumeister, aa, qujote and cjcoder unclear. gyp sent his regrets. I'm going to be gone for most of this afternoon but Beth and I will be there at 5 for sure. I think a rez or even just a heads-up would be a good thing to do.
p.s. I've a Jamaican pen pal that said she would be in. I'm not counting on it though.
MFL-2
X1-1
Chuckl-1
JRP-3
The Roadhouse's-2

I would think it wouldn't be a problem if up to 6 unexpected diners showed up w/o a rez to join us.
You won't recognize it but it once was a bowling alley.
On Friday and Saturday nights, they have strolling string musicians.
Over the years I've had many family dinners here and I'm thinking tonight should be a great time.
I've always found the food to be a quantum leap higher than Milwaukee's most famous Serbian restaurant.
I'm also aware that tastes are very subjective.

Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (X1)

 Apparently, 5 PM.

So...make a res or no?
Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (JRPfeff)

MFL would like to start at 5:00. I concur.
Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (BuddyRoadhouse)

Well, I guess we're in since I'm responsible for this. What time should we be there?

Buddy
Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (JRPfeff)

abe_froeman

We're thinking about coming- depends if The Roadhouses are. Buddy's still in bed......

They had better make it. Buddy started this get together.
Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (abe_froeman)

We're thinking about coming- depends if The Roadhouses are. Buddy's still in bed......
Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (X1)

Repeating this from the other thread:

Kopp's flavors today:
Sprecher root beer float
Caramel Cashew

Featured Shake: Irish Mint (which is a hundred times better than a Shamrock Shake)

Featured Sundae: Tiramisu

Just sayin'.

Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (X1)

So far, I count at least 8 - do we need a res?

Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (JRPfeff)

Bobbi called. They are open for dinner tonight.
Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (X1)

 In!!

Re:Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House (ChuckL50)

 I'm in.
This place has been on my bucket list forever. We loved our entrees and I think it certainly is worth a drive for you if that's your choice. If you'd be interested in Old Town Serbian Gourmet House, we'd be in. I'll include a link for our daily newspaper dining review which just came out 2 weeks ago. http://www.jsonline.com/features/dining/87360357.html
Here's their offer:
Old Town Serbian Gourmet Restaurant - 3 for $25 Menu

First Course
Soup of the Day
Serbian Tomato Salad (Tomatoes, peppers, onions & feta cheese)
House Salad

Second Course
Burek (Filo leaves stuffed with choice of cheese, beef, or spinach)
Sarma (Soured cabbage stuffed with meats and simmered)
Stuffed Grape Leaves (Stuffed with meat, rice, & herbs)
Serbian Musaka (Eggplant layers and beef baked)
Mediterranean Stuffed Peppers (Stuffed with couscous, pinenuts, chickpeas, olives, feta, and herbs in a light tomato sauce)
Beograd Burger/Plescaivcia (Beef, veal, pork & lamb ground & mixed with herbs & spices, serbian cheese on flatbread)

Desserts
Apple Strudel
Cherry Strudel
Palachinka (Crepes stuffed with apricot walnut, strawberry, or Chocolate-Hazelnut)

Here's the link to the offer which should allow you to get driving directions. If you do want to dine here, it's an easy drive with the restaurant very close to I-94. The surrounding area has seen its better days but it is not an unsafe neighborhood. Parking is street parking only. http://marketplace.milwaukeemarketplace.com/restaurants/milwaukee/wi/old+town+serbian+gourmet+restaurant/86849

It's a good sized restaurant so the number in our party shouldn't throw them for a loop. Most every Serb that owns a place in Milwaukee worked here at one time, including Ilija.

Palacinke
