Olive oil ice cream-- The version I had tasted like lightly sweetened vanilla with a touch of fruity olive. Fine, but not incredible.

Thyme ice cream-- This was slightly sweet and very pleasant, made with fresh thyme as well as a thyme-based liqueur. I'd have it again.

Carrot ice cream-- Delicious. Considering carrots can be cooked with brown sugar and made into puddings, this shouldn't have seemed so strange to me--but I just never thought of carrots that way before. It was not too sweet, and had the rooty earthiness of fresh carrot without being too pungent.

When I was a kid it was my job to sit one the ice cream churn. I would always get the first bowl. But... that first bowl was always kinda salty. I guess a little salty water would splash in. I still love salty ice cream! Just a few grinds of sea salt. I call it "top a tha churn". Not so good for me now I know but mmm.

I've heard of garlic ice cream. Never had it. Tried avocado ice cream. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but wouldn't eat more than a taste. Also had Ube Ice cream....interesting to say the least. Recently had roasted strawberry. Not bad, but prefer regular strawberry.

Really like Smurf ice cream :-) It is raspberry ice cream with marshmallows

Black liquorice icecream. Kind of strange, kinda good.
When I frequent Asian resturants, I do not mind Red Bean icecream.

I don't know how bizarre this is, but CIAOBella's Blackberry Cabernet Sorbetto is incredibly intense. I got some the other evening and I'm still trying to decide if I even like it. I suppose I will figure it out by the time I finish the pint!

My wife and all of her family are great ice cream eaters. Before we were married my future bride saw a carton of cranberry sherbet in the store and thought it sounded good and purchased it. She said it was anything but good. No one would eat it. Finally it was tossed. We will have been married fifty years in a few months. The surviving members of our generation in her family still laugh over the cranberry sherbet.

The Rosewater flavor is the only one that sounds good to me. I have had an Ancho Chile-Dark Chocolate Gelato that was fabulous, but that's not so bizarre whan you consider the chocolate-chile connection in Mole sauce...

I had Rose Petal at Robin Rose in Venice, CA. Got old fast.

Had the Safron at Mashti Malones which I didn't like.

At Coldstone I had Wasabi. Good at first taste, but I prefer anything else.

Here's an article about 5 recommended bizarre flavors...the strawberry-basil sounds interesting...heard of bacon before, but never have seen it anyplace....what do you guys think? Any strange flavors that you've tried?????
