I'm not sure it's the wisest choice, but it's certainly the "me" choice.

I'll try to do Five and Dime and Roque's Carnitas, because their portions seem a little smaller than a full meal.

I'll skip The Shed, because I ate there in August - but I loved my meal there and I recommend it wholeheartedly. To back up this recommendation, I offer this picture of chilled red raspberry soup - even if you can't eat a plateful of carne adovada, you could eat a cup of delicious refreshing soup, right?
IMG_1343 by Ralph Melton, on Flickr
Michael said the Plaza is doing something special for us, so that's something to try to seek out, as long as they aren't out of commission from their fire.

To me, Santacafé looks like a "fancy" place, and though it looks good, it doesn't call to me as much. So I'll put that on my might-miss list.

My real hope is to join up with a group of folks who are willing to share with each other, and do whatever the group does.
Re:2010 Roadfood Tour: New Mexico (JonBattle)

So many choices in Santa Fe. So at our many stops, if there are opportunities to split a dish two or three ways with other Touristas so we can all get a sampling of the fare, I'm down with that if the eatery is down with that.
Re:2010 Roadfood Tour: New Mexico (buffetbuster)

I would love to see ChiTownDiner answer Pixel Farmer's question, about if he does any physical preparing for the bus tour.

As for me, I learned early on to pace myself. The food is always so good, you want to fill up at the first couple of places. But no pre-trip preparation for me. I figure once they set the food down in front of me, I will know what to do!

Pixel Farmer-
Sorry to read you are going to miss out on Bobcat Bite.
Re:2010 Roadfood Tour: New Mexico (ChiTownDiner)

 Ivyhouse -
The Avis deal was not on the name your own price option...it just came up on a sort. I mention the Premium as the other 6-8 vendors listed ranged from $60-$81 for the same car class.
Typically, mid-size and other categories will be less.
This was just such a standout deal, I thought I'd pass it on.

Re:2010 Roadfood Tour: New Mexico (Pixel Farmer)

A question for Roadfood eating-tour veterans: do you do anything to prepare physically for a trip like this? Planning on trips to the O'Keeffe Museum and the Sandia Peak Tramway.
Re:2010 Roadfood Tour: New Mexico (Ivyhouse)

ChiTownDiner

For those of you needing a rental car...Priceline has Avis Premium Category car rentals for $22.00 per day. That's the lowest I have seen.

Thanks for the heads up. Was that their Name your Own Price option, picking up and dropping off at ABQ airport?
So far the best rental car price I have seen at ABQ is a mid-size from Thrifty for $17.36/day (plus taxes and fees).
Re:2010 Roadfood Tour: New Mexico (buffetbuster)

 Ivyhouse-
After everything I plan on eating during the tour, I don't think the balloon would get off the ground, with me in the basket!

Enjoy your ride.
Re:2010 Roadfood Tour: New Mexico (Ivyhouse)

From my desk in Bethesda, MD., it sounds like fun! I hope I still think so once the balloon takes off....!
Re:2010 Roadfood Tour: New Mexico (buffetbuster)

 Ivyhouse-
How cool is that! That sounds like so much fun.
