Nino, was the Snack Shack you were looking for Papa Rick's Snack Shack in Rome?

Scorereader - yeah I remember going for pizza at Losurdo's off of Erie Blvd with my dad, Sisto's, Marina's, etc...

ynotryme - wow, I forgot about that the Colonial Inn has Fric & Frac's menu. I pass by there every time I am in Rome but I haven't eaten there in ages. Used to be my unofficial hangout when I was performing at Rome Community Theater further up on Turin Road.

Sorry I meant the "snack shack", not the papa johns chain. i think i may have got the snack shack name wrong too?

I remember when Utica/Rome area had oh so many great Italian restaurants - it rivaled Syracuse. And so many are gone now - along with the mafia - so...

Billyboy you are probably right about the location on dominick street but they also own the colonial inn on turin rd at hawkins corner that has not only the fric and frac menu including the same sandwich names, but a fuller menu and full bar.

ynotryme, sadly I believe that Fric & Frac's Flying Food Factory has been closed for some years now. A staple for my family back in the 80s and early 90s. I welcome any chance I get to use their whole name in a sentence. And the wings, pizza and sandwiches were pretty great too.

I'm glad you enjoyed the local place. I've never liked Papa Johns but obviously many do.

I'm originally from Rome and I know there are some fine pizzarias in Rome. LaRoma.s. the Plaza. The Savoy. Tony's. boys from ny, fric and fracs etc. I know that I wouldn't be looking for chains. It's just most people know only the chains when they don't live in areas where there aren't any mom and pops

why would anyone intentionally look for a Papa Heartburns?
if I came into a town looking for a pizza place & only saw chain joints,I'd head to the next town.FAST.

Hi guys
Stopped in Rome on the way to Old Forge and decided on Luigis for Pizza. We found it looking for Papa Johns. Try it next time.
Had the pepperoni for the kids and the Luigi's special. Great pizzas the both. Topped well with cheese and sausage with a great sauce. Best pizza our family has had in long while.
