Work Trips 09 (divefl)

Ok, I've been taking pictures then letting them sit there on my computer. I use my work trips as a time to eat without guilt. After all, I have left the safety of home and need some comfort food. So, back in 2009 I pent a lot of time in NOLA. My first trip was unfortunately not captured on film. I hit Redfish grill for BBQ oysters, Mother's, and later the Acme Oysters. I shed a tear for the loss of gulf coast oysters this year. Next time, I remembered my camera when I went to Parkway for a surf and turf po boy. I went through at least 10 napkins and my hand smelled like roast beef for about a day even after washing. That is not a complaint.

Next stop, Texas and the areas around Dallas. Specifically, I was in Ponder which has a population sign. This sounds like a foolis thing to fixate on, but I cant remember seeing one since I was a kid.

Roadfood fans will know Ponder, TX is home to Ranchman's and some really good Chicken Fried Steak. However, I look the time to try an appetizer of quail, first. Ranchman's let's you order quail two tiny quarters at a time. I had friend and grilled. I highly recommend the grilled. The flavors were great and the meat was really tender. The CFS was very good and crisp with gravy on the side to avoid premature sogginess. It is pounded out in the back to be really fresh. closed up with some really good pecan pie. Ranchman's has become a must stop when I am in the area.

I'll continue...

Now, I remember why I was putting this off.
