Not being exactly hungry, we picked-up two butter croissants to-go and brought them home. (What better way to judge a French patisserie than by its mainstay?) The paper bag was later adorned with butter grease stains from the two $ 2.00 each croissants. Flaky. Buttery. The lightest of crunches on the outside and soft tender wisps of baked goodness on the inside. Very, very good.

I can't wait to return for a more thorough tast-testing and review!

(BTW, in addition to Paul's new DC location being Metro accessible [Navy Memorial / Archives stop -- it is literally next to the Navy Memorial and in the building used in a number of exterior shots for the FOX show "24"] it is also quite accessible to persons visiting the nation's capital as it is just a block away from the National Gallery of Art and less than two blocks from either the Spy Museum or Newseum, FYI.)

Re:Attention DC-area Foodies... I don't get there enough because they have limited hours (7:30am-3pm) and open only on weekdays. But I have scootered there for some subs, and LOVE THEM. their pizza looks good too.

The other awesome place for subs is the Italian Store in Arlington, VA. Philly style Italian hoagies. worth the trip.

I used to get to Italian Store more often than now when I was the music director of an ensemble in Vienna, VA. But I resigned from that organization last February and took over another ensemble in Rockville, MD.

I'm hoping to start discovering places in Rockville and along Rockville Pike now that I'm out there every week.

Try Joe's Noodle House on Rockville Pike and Urban BBQ
Re:Attention DC-area Foodies... (douginvirginia)

 Thanks guys.
It's been 20 years since I've had a G-Man from Mangialardo's, but I loved them when I worked in the area. Probably have eaten 100+. I really should go back some time.
These days, my trips up there are usually to NOVA. I rarely go without stopping at the Italian Store. Usually have a plain slice there, and bring home 2 subs. They are the best I've had south of Philly - outstanding!!
I'll report on Taylor Gourmet when I visit - sometime this fall.

Re:Attention DC-area Foodies...
