I have since made it to Western Steakburger and can now give it a high recommendation. The signature burger there comes with gyro meat on top of the sandwich. Trust me, it tastes better than it sounds!

I love burgers and I love gyros...that gyromeat/hamburger looks soooo good. When I go to San Diego this April, I'm going to hit this place up.

And if you're in Del Mar, make sure you visit Chino Farms, best farm stand in the US.

This is one I had to resurrect for a couple of reasons....to start, Boll Weevil is pretty much dead but in the SD area there is still one open in Ramona. It's like stepping back in time and makes a good burger stop on the way to Julian and apple picking.

Also, Bob's Big Boy is making a SD comeback these days. There is one in San Marcos as well as Temecula.

I was a Boll Weevil fan in the 90's when I spent a lot of time down there in my Navy days. Don't know if it's still any good these days.

I think, Boll Weevils is done. Perhaps a couple have hung on. I too was a huge fan.

Western Steakburger is listed in the Hamburger America book, but I haven't eaten there myself. Yet.

Yea buddy, Westerd and Canada are real close to each other and very close in goodness also. Forget what it's called but they have one of those meat as a condiment burgers with gyro meat.
