I think it is a great revision. Layout is better, more information, pictures, and way more information. Great Job...Russ

Could you put something from the Miscellaneous Forum on the main page? I think it stimulates conversation in other topics......Russ

The more that I visit the easier it is for me to navigate. I like the graphics and pictures and reviews in the expanded format. I also am glad that the professionals forum has moved. I am a cook in a restaurant and if I need specific info for any restaurant operations then I know where to look. Most of the people on this forum use this site as a social network not as a professional network. We are all looking for that next great place to eat or that next best meal ever while traveling this great nation.

I, for one, am thrilled with the changes. The Restaurant Professionals forum was useless to me and everything else is still available, once you figure out where to find it.

The "Search Local Eats" and the "Eating Tours" are well thought out improvements to the site.

The Restaurant Professional forum was given it's own section for "latest conversation" because it took all the available slots in the single section. ... Now we back to the one, ... So will these be added back to the "latest conver..." que???? ... There are New visitors coming to the forums every day, because of search engines, looking for the Hot Dog & restaurant prof. forums too.

For those of you who are forum regulars - The scroll distance of the "Latest Forum Discussions" on the side bar is exactly the same as the previous version of the site and contains the same number of topics (with the exception of Professional Posts).

If you are looking for a more comprehensive overview, I suggest bookmarking the following web page - http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/search.aspx?searchfor=lastvisit to get the best overview of new discussions.

Then where is the latest conversation for the HD & Prof forums?? '
They were on the other front page. ... Since the page is divided into 2 equal columns, text warp more; therefore scrolling has to be more the previous page.

It seems okay to me. I think that these photos and write-ups help make this site visually atractive to new visitors. You just click on the photo and you are directed to the reviews that we all know and love. However on the right side it's really empty. Very Empty... Nature, my mind and stomach hates a void.
This is why I don't understand that Conversations is reduced to less topics. You moved the professionals to the forums page but did not add any content to replace them. It seems that even regular talk is dimished to less topics. There is room on the right side for more; it is completely empty. Just don't fill it with ads....

I agree...you've put much of the actual "book" on the "table of contents" page...but thereby limiting what is on the table of contents page.....too much scrolling......most want to quickly see the foruns(regulars at least)...and they're as short as they ever were....you got the one mile long home page, add conversations...or the first sentence or two of each....flashy and colorful yes, improvement, no. Fire the web designer

More content is not better. ... A front page for a website should give a quick summary of the features available from the particular site and then direct link to those sections. Our previous front page did this. .... I'm not against change ... but ... to have to scroll though a long list and look for info or the links increases the chance the (new) user will miss what he is looking for. As a user to new websites, if the page take more than 30 sec to load, I gone; .... if there is a flash intro and no skip button, I'm gone; ... there are other websites out there. And I don't need the front page to read the forums. But your old one was interesting at times.

Don't like it!!! Where are the latest forum posting for the Hot Dog & Prof forums? If I wanted to see all that review stuff I would click on it, why am I forced to see it now?

OH well ... guess I'll what I did before the good front page was put up (now gone), that is go straight to the forums page and skip the front page all together!!!!! ... Click "post since last visit" or "today's post" will give me what I want to see most of what was shown by the "old" front page.

Can't those nice long detailed reviews be on another page...you have to scroll a mile down...I like the more compact old page...I most want the conversations...when I want a detailed review,I'd hit on them!!!!

Yes, it looks like another dreaded redesign. The site is already difficult enough to navigate, and the redesigns never appear to address that. No disrespect is intended, but I'm not enthusiastic.

While some might find me old-fashioned and opposed to change, I don't agree. Nonetheless change for the sake of change, as is what appears to be the case here, is often totally uncalled for. That is the case here in my opinion.

Really, what was wrong with the previous site setup ?

Count me amongst those who feel this change was uncalled for and was/is a stupid idea.

I guess I am on old fogey. I do not like it. I do not come here so much for the reviews, but I read through the latest forum postings. The new one does not give the old split of the ten latest from the two major factions on this site, only listing about 4 or 5 of the latest from where ever.

One vote against change...Stan...
