A wiseman that I respected gave us the best Idea. Will past this on to you as I did my Sons.
Wait 5 years for a Honeymoon. Get finaces and everything in order. Hey by then, maybe. G'kids by then G'parents will keep. Not saying don't do anything. Get Married , spend a three day weekend close and then bust the bank in 5 years. We did this and all three boys have benefited from this thought also. In todays economy, why run up cost if where we are at risk is so shaky at this point. Yes it is a wonderful time, but our thoughts outweigh Practical.

What do you both like to do. Water, shopping, relaxing, working, fun. Time of year going
My favorite Vacations are no longer there. Windjammer Cruises. There are still smaller cruise lines.
I don't sit well so I could join in the fun of working the boat as much as I wanted. Sails up ,down and whatever. They stop in smaller ports than the big boats. One boat we had was 8 couples. Meals are local foods from port stops. Windjammer had a 2 Grog a day included in price. There are private islands to semi private islands.

Paul is correct. It's gorgeous there, plus, there's terrific guided light tackle fishing out of Fajardo for tarpon, snook, bonefish, permit and other species.

May I suggest Puerto Rico which requires no passport and has beautiful scenery. I would suggest the El Conquistador resort on the northeast corner of the island. It has huge grounds, about a dozen restaurants, golf course, its own island and water park. It overlooks the rain forest, Atlantic Ocean and mountains.

I have stayed there twice and my daughter has a meeting there next week. It is a beautiful property. They have their own shuttle from the airport. If you look at the web site I have attached, I believe you will truly enjoy the resort. Everything is there.

If you truly want to get away from it all and not deal with tourist traps, I would suggest St. Lucia. People are friendly towards the US and the scenery is the most gorgeous of all the Caribbean Islands I have been to. Just the view of the Piton twin peaks was worth the trip alone.

Passports are already in the bag so that is not an issue. Fishing would be great but I am not sure my future wife would agree . A South American honeymoon might be a good idea.

A guy named Buzzbait would wed someone who might not agree to a fishing honeymoon?

Shoot! I boought my wife a 150 horse Mercury one year for our anniversary. She bought me a new Shimano.

Well, you won't need a passport for either the Florida Keys or the U.S. Virgin Islands. You won't for Puerto Rico, either. But you will need a passport for the rest of the Caribbean.

But based on your screen name, have you given any consideration to fishing for Peacock bass in South America? I would consider that a perfect honeymoon trip.

Hi everyone,
I got engaged over the holidays and me and my fiance have decided on a destination wedding. We are interested in the Carribean and Virgin Islands. We are planning to have a small wedding with only close family and friends. Knowing that there are a lot of well-traveled people on here I thought I would see if anyone could help since so far it has been very difficult making a decision. There are sooooo many choices. So far we have looked at St. Thomas and the Florida Keys but are open to anything. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions as to where to stay or maybe even a venue?
