They are even a bit bigger than regular bagels because they have been flattened out. I wonder if what you have is the same. (I don't mean bagel "chips", but I don't think you mean them either)
Re:Flat bagels (stricken_detective)

I got some at the grocery store. This is sold in a shaker, like a spice shaker, and costs about $3.98. What is it? (this is s/w weird) It is all the toppings that fall off the "Everything Bagel" plus a little burnt crust, so you can take it home and shake it on (?????).
(I guess you could also empty out the brown paper bag that bagels come in...)

That's called Bagel-It. Actually H&H sells it on their site (at a 6 pk rate) $21.99. Buying direct (online) from Toro costs $29.99. Don't know the difference in online s/h prices.

http://www.bagel-it.com/

Re:Flat bagels (NYNM)

o, no. lovely as bialy's are, they are not the flat bagel (also known as flagel). While a bialy is flat, and often sold in same place as bagels, it is made differently. A bialy is usually softish, and some times has onion flakes, a flat bagel is the exact same as a regular bagel, but flattened out. Therefore it has that harder crust of a good bagel. Problem is, many generic bagels now are just fat puffs like wonder bread, and they seem like a puffy bialy!
Re:Flat bagels (BT)

You aren't, perchance, referring to bialys are you?

Bialys

Bialy, a Yiddish word short for bialystoker kuchen, from Białystok, a city in Poland, is a small roll that is a traditional dish in Polish Ashkenazi cuisine. A traditional bialy has a diameter of up to 15 cm (6 inches) and is a chewy yeast roll similar to a bagel. Unlike a bagel, which is boiled before baking, a bialy is simply baked, and instead of a hole in the middle it has a depression. Before baking, this depression is filled with dicedonions and other ingredients, including (depending on the recipe) garlic, poppy seeds, or bread crumbs.

Re:Flat bagels (NYNM)

Another option is, at H&H; "Bagel Topping." I saw they also sold "flat bagels" (plain, with sesame, and with sunflower seeds). I didn't get any and now I am craving them, and am not nearby.
I love these "aberrations" which are not easy to find. Basically a NY bagel that is flattened (and therefore a bit larger) and all sorts of smooshed.

Do they have them outside of NY?
