This is the place where you can find food that you didn't even know can be eaten like exotic foodstuff. It really a great dining experience worth trying...
Re:Taiwan Night Market (photos) (jimBoSF)

why can't this be in SF??

great pics !
Re:Taiwan Night Market (photos) (LiuYan)

This market looks the same as the markets in our area (I am in PRC).
Re:Taiwan Night Market (photos) (quijote)

Hi All, We enjoyed Taiwan immensely, and I can't wait to go back. Those night markets are addictive! We spent five full days in Taipei (including most of a day trip to Danshui) and four full days in Kaohsiung (including the amazing Foguangshan Monastery). Wow. We would have had another full day there (possibly spent at Taroko Gorge), but our transpacific flight on the 17th was canceled, and we had to take another flight the following day. In spite of that, it was a great trip. If you want to see some photos with some of the highlights, here's the Facebook link:

http://www.facebook.com/m...ype=1&l=090607d3e4

Thanks for the suggestions. These photos remind me of the port visits to Hong Kong and Phataya Beach and Subic Bay back when I was in the navy. It amazes me how there is so much available and how inexpensive and delishous everything is. Ah for the bygone days of staggering back to the boat at three in the morning with a fistfull of mystery meat on a stick, munching all the way to the pier.
Re:Taiwan Night Market (photos) (Georgieporgie)

Awesome, thanks for sharing! It's the largest one in Taiwan with over 500 Food Stalls plus all the other merchandise you can imagine.
I Had a "Local" business friend with me to help me buy a gold necklace for my Bride. That in itself was a fascinating experience. To watch her work her magic negotiating skills was poetry in motion. I wanted to bring her home with me to help me buy my next Car! Can't remember what we ate but it was exotic I know that much.
After business hours at 1-2AM in the morning, many Vendors set up little alters by placing flowers, lighting candles and incense before a Buddha-image or some other symbol of the presence of the Buddha and they make a food offering. That in itself was interesting to watch. The vivid images of the whole experience are clearly imbedded in my mind.

Re:Taiwan Night Market (photos) (ScreamingChicken)

The Night Market looks like quite the high-energy place but I'm not sure how gastronomically adventurous I'd be if I visited!

Brad
Taiwan Night Market (photos) (BT)

Fried tentacles (Yum!)

Quail eggs

Looks a lot like Costco in SF

Oyster omlet: greens, potato starch, eggs, oysters

You know what this is

You probably know what this is too

Source all photos: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi.../detail?entry_id=83251
