Your past this now, but for future readers: I use an abrasive wheel on a rotary tool. Get a tool that spins 20,000rmp or greater. Get the abrasive paint remover at most hardware and tool stores. I have never seen anything they won't take right off without effort. Rust, paint, laquer, even hard baked on gaskets (like a head gasket) you name it. They may scratch aluminum, so you'll need to be careful on that, but they'll get the edges around rivets with ease. As they wear, the take a different shape, so you can wear the edge to a point > and get into crevices.

hi guys...
im still around, still looking for exhaust options before i give in and go back stock.

lol, the vacation is over and i had to go back to work, crazy hours but thats where the fun is :)
the project is still on track, though way behind schedule..... but i can still see light at the end of the tunnel so its just a matter of time, lol...i need to be a more patient person anyway, lol
cumberland county charges 250 bucks for inspection... yay me !! :)

ok, im about to give up !!....
the headers are a no go, i massaged the passengers side and got them to fit ok, but the driver side has an 02 sensor bung right at the collector, and no massaging in the world is going to make it play nice with the frame...
so, the ol' girl is once again grounded until further notice....
i dunno, worst case i just go back to the stock style manifolds..... i have to go talk with a couple exhaust shops tomorrow evening, see about having something made custom..... but we all know what that means$$$$$
i did unload the useless headers for 100 bucks.... not too shabby after only paying 132 for them, and then beating the crap out of them with the framing...i mean massaging hammer, lol
so...all is not lost, and im not really giving up..... just another hurdle to figure out.....

on a side note.......
this little hot dog trailer is for sale, guy has reduced the price from 22k to 14k if anyone is interested just let me know and i will forward you his info, or him yours, either way.....
lol, he just wants it gone at this point in time, it has been used 5 times..... 2 of those were in his driveway to test it out and play with all the gadgets, lol

ok, on a better note....
here are a couple of pics of a "pro built" hot dog stand and its hood system...
the is a Dayton fan model 197 12v 2350rpm fan motor..... it says 3.7 amps(?) thats a lot i think but more so to the way its set up.....
right behind the filters, very tight fit..... right in the middle with the bulk of the heat stream and no cooling air vents or tubes for the motor....

here is a pic of the griddle burners, so three burners... assuming 32k btu each gives us a heat source of 96k btu's per hour

and here is the simple shutter vent on the outside wall..... just like what i picture on the rear of my truck.....

sooooo..... i think Wild Dogs set up falls within the "assumed" industry standard..... only difference i see is the hot dog trailer unit has heat shield on the wires leading to the motor.....shouldnt be too big a deal to get that up to par though, rather easily if you ask me.... go to oriellys auto parts and get a couple feet of spark plug wire heat shield (good to 750*), could possibly even get a small package of header wrap and give the motor a "blanket" to help shield it as well.....
folks... i do believe we have found a suitable set up to make things work :)

ok....i got the 20lb tank holds 20 pounds....but is that a 20lb tank minus 20% for the opd(giving a 16lb actual amount).... or is that a measured "24lb" capacity that is filled to 20lbs giving the 20% dead space for the opd ?

if it is 80% of a 20 pound max how can they legally put in 17lbs ??

You posted a great question. We have two dealers here in town that don't bother to weigh tanks just charge a flat fee and so if you take in a 75% empty tank your paying for 25% of product you didn't get. But the only way to put 17% more propane into a tank is to exceed the propane tank limits. Or if other dealers are not filling propane tanks to the legal limit. But why would they do that?

Here is some on lime imformation on propane tanks:

Propane is a gas at standard temperature and pressure. A 20-pound tank holds about 4.1 gallons of liquid propane. It's a liquid in the tank because it's under great pressure. 4.2 lb per US gallon

Then at another site I read :

4.7 Gals is the correct answer. Water weights right at 8# per gallon and propane is 4.2# per gallon. LP cylinders are classified by the amount of liquefied propane they hold at 80% of their water capacity. The temperature of the liquid causes the actual level to increase or decrease so the basic figures are typically at 60F. A 20# cylinder holds 20#/4.2# per GL = 4.7 gallons. Parenthetically, some other interesting facts about propane are that each gallon makes 270 gallons of vapor gas. Propane boils at -44F (yes, below zero) whereas water boils at+212F. It looks just like boiling water when vapor is used from the top of the cylinder like when using a grill. Propane looks perfectly clear just like water but is half the specific gravity of water. What that means is a fishing bobber would sink to the bottom if dropped into propane.

my hood is 4ft wide by 3 or 4 feet deep at the very edge. I think it's 3 though. So that gives me 7 ft but I know that my requirements are NOT 2100 cfm. I think the min allowed is 800. I think. lol

The fan fits... barely but I will take that !!! I'm going to install it in the middle. At 1500 CFM I should really have no problem exiting air and what not. The one thing I mentioned that I don't like is the wiring on the fan. It's frayed silver wire, My wiring is solid copper. I will wire nut it and see what happens and tape it up and stick it in a junction box to protect it even more. Here is the pic of the fan just sitting behind the filter. Nothing is hooked up yet.

I ordered that fan from global industries when you posted that link and it came in today. 3 days from start to finish. Pleased with the process so far. I measured the fan, from front to back it is about 5.5" and the shutter is a second box. I think I can make it work. I'm not pleased with the wiring that I'm supposed to hook up to, but I might change it. It's silver braided frayed wire. This thing is supposed to hook up to 115v and is 1500 cfm. I'm going to mock it up and see how the fan fits behind the filters this weekend. Will take pics of that and the uni-strut on the floor.

that was some good reading....lol, believe it or not i can grab a drink and a smoke and settle in and read stuff like that front to back
most of the 12 volt motors i found though are only heat rated 1 (one) 104* max air over motor....i assume a 12 volt motor is much like a 12 volt vs 120 volt pump... the 12 volt will outlast by many many margins

I don't think we've ever had a problem using regular automotive 12 volt fans in a hood application. I've never measured the temps, but remember by the time the air goes thru the filters there is a lot of heat sink dissipation along with some make up air being pulled in. I know some folks use them in hoods for wok burners here, and those put out at least a couple hundred K btu per burner, especially when they pull the wok off and the flames shoot up like an afterburner on a jet. As I mentioned I'd put it in some sort of easy remove module in the plenum just in case you have problems.

well, i ran into fitment problems with the headers.... im going to have to do some minor surgery to either them or the frame....im leaning towards the headers, they almost fit.... about 1/4" out from falling into place..... im going to need a few days on this, lol

i think the two bottom plugs are 220v plugs, possibly going to steam table and maybe coffee maker or something...... cant really tell without getting in there and looking........

I don't all though some of your colored lettering is hard to read but I want to know what the software is your using to do all this? Is it difficult to use? How expensive is it?
