However, I would be curious to know what hot dog experience the person calling the Hot Dog shots at Costco has.

I'd also be curious to know how sales compare after this transition to Kirkland dogs. I've heard many a hot dog discussion that included a paean to the great Hebrew National Frankfurter & Soda combo deal offered at Costco's.

And come to think of it, Issaquah sounds so much cooler than Kirkland.

Well, I'll just have to try this Kirkland dog and report back.

 The Bear

Re:Costco's new dogs (pnwchef)

ScreenBear

"Would you rather have a Kirkland dog or a Issaquah dog.."

Hmmm. It seems that Holiday Inn was owned by a restauranteur from Detroit who wouldn't allow less than the best.

But, the next finest I've ever had is served at the two Cap City Fine Diners in Columbus and Gahanna. They use Provimi veal liver, and their sauce (rather than gravy) is beyond superb. The carmelized onions are exquisite, as are the mashed potatoes. In fact, the liver, onions, sauce and potatoes are so deliciously ambrosial that the currently correct "crisp" broccoli and carrots served with the liver can be excused, or, as I prefer, ignored.

Re:Costco's new dogs (mar52)

 Liver Lover!

Never had it in a sandwich unless it was wursted.
Re:Costco's new dogs (pnwchef)

Michael Hoffman

Ah, you folks who don't like liver don't know good food.

I think Chewy thinks the Kirkland dogs are made from the Tenderloin area.......

I bet there are many people on this site, that have had, or remember the diners having Liver and onions on the menu in many areas...............I used to have it on my menu in the 80's....
Re:Costco's new dogs (ann peeples)

I would love one of those liver sandwiches. My Mom always served her liver with bacon( and onions, of course)
Re:Costco's new dogs (Michael Hoffman)

Ah, you folks who don't like liver don't know good food.
Re:Costco's new dogs (chewingthefat)

Michael Hoffman

The only club in Bridgeport with which I was familiar was the Algonquin Club, and that wasn't ethnic at all. On the Eastside of Bpt every Nationality had their own private club, The Polish Club, Ukrainian club, and so on. During the summer they would have club picnics, one of the more popular items was having grilled Liver, bacon and onion sandwiches on a good rye bread. The liver was sliced real thin and cooked in the bacon fat, they then added the bacon and grilled onions to build the sandwich, this was a melt in your mouth sandwich. There was nothing like eating those sandwiches, drinking beer and shooting craps all day long...............
Re:Costco's new dogs (pnwchef)

Michael Hoffman

chewingthefat

Michael Hoffman

PNWCHEF,

You should get a real good yield from both. If you can afford that meat for your cafe, then you are amazing, and we all should be flocking to your place.

Hi Ann, I will get about 56 cases of 4-1 patty's, 200 lb of bulk used for Meatloaf and all other ground beef needs, Top and bottom round that we carve for Roast beef dinners, hot beef sands and French dips, any other cuts that could be used for Tips, stroganoff, Oriental beef stir fry's, Fajitas, carne Asada and so on. I was telling Chewingthefat today that we will have 16 to 20 piglets next month, and I'm thinking about raising 6 to 8 of those for the cafe. I like the idea of giving my client Beef and pork raised by my company, it just sounds right.....
Re:Costco's new dogs (Twinwillow)

Michael Hoffman

Al, stuffed clams are made with minced or ground up clams.
