the only problem with the shipped beef and the places that sell beefs here in jax. fl is that its not the same because the bread is different they use like a sub roll not the long italian bread

Hey guys, I grew up in Wheaton myself and loved Portillo's chilli cheese w onions, the best ever. And their combo's were to kill for!!! I also remember the little wood building on North Ave in Villa Park.

Welcome oldhunter! If you grew up in DuPage County you are probably familiar with Portillo's that got it's start in Villa Park in the 1960's. I know they still have pretty good dogs but Italian beef is my long time favorite there.

I second that. Portillo's is the best, but like kland I prefer the italian beef. I take mine with mozz and hot peppers. You can order the beef to be shipped pretty much anywhere too, and it's pretty darn close to the real thing when you make it at home. Best giardiniera there too!

I do like to get a few jumbo chili dogs from Portillo's too. Can't beat that with a stick.

If you're in the city and looking for some fun with your dog, get a late nighter at Weiner's Circle in Lincoln Park.

Oyea I rember when it was just a trailer with a water hose runing to one of the near by shops , some of my friends in cali said he has to places their now .
he had good beef but so did carms and little joes man I miss that chi town food

hello every one I'm new here so I was woundering what is your pick for chicago dogs in chicago or metro area I grew up in dupage county and now live in FL. and miss the dogs and beefs that i enjoyed when growing up .
I used to get dogs at a little place on cannal st. under the eltracks that had great dogs allways came with fries.
then their was pootles on st. charles rd in villa park long gone
