Soon hopefully.

Michael Hoffman

I wouldn't patronize a place that used every nasty stereotype possible short of claiming all its male employes are married to their sisters to hype it's phoney atmosphere. I am, of course, referring to Hillbilly Heaven.

Yeah, I too thought it was kind of hokey, but in general we Canadians are fairly liberal minded when it comes to hillbillies.

Re:Hillbilly Heaven in Hamilton! (Hepcat)

I've made a point of attending outdoor Ribfests and hunting down out of the way BBQ joints from Toronto to London, Ontario in the last twelve years or so and the very best ribs I've found in the Toronto to Hamilton area have been at Hillbilly Heaven which just opened on Upper James Street in Hamilton in the past year.

Hillbilly Heaven website

The restaurant is located in a non-pretentious older neighbourhood and the decor is basic comfortable. I had the sampler plate. The ribs are delicious - fall off the bone tender, lean but juicy, smoky and sweet. I loved the sauce they use. The pulled pork and beef brisket were if anything even better. And the chili was perhaps the best I've ever eaten. Instead of ground meat, their pulled pork or beef brisket is used in the chili! Absolutely delicious.

If you're in the area, try it out by all means. I highly recommend it.
