I was sitting in my back yard, drinking a V8 and reading the can. I thought of what Tom was missing in this drink. I wondered if they cut back on the intense flavor of Lettuce or celery, maybe the beets or the watercress. I'm not really sure what Tom is missing. I do know that after owning a Great BBQ restaurant, eating BBQ everyday with a few beers isn't going to give V8 any chance in the world for taste..........GGEEEEEEZZZZ even Michael H before he went AWOL knew that............pnwc

Bill, it gets a chanch, just not much of one...I think it's missing carrott juice!

Just bought a plastic jug of it. The Label says "The Original". They wouldn't lie to us would they? I'll let you know tomorrow.

Put a dash of Tobasco sauce in it and quitcherbitchin.

I prefer Trader Joes Garden Patch tomato juice. It has more kick.

I might agree except for the fact that everything else I eat or drink tastes pretty much the same as I remember it from some time back, V8 has changed!

To me at least, very little taste, I don't know if it's me or not, but I once loved it, bland as hell anymore, anyone agree?

Maybe you don't have any taste...........They also make a spicy V8, your a spicy kinda guy..............................

It took a shot of vodka for me to like V8.

I thought that's what ruined mine....haven't tried it straight since.

It does taste more bland. I think what is lacking is the celery "note". It's still there but not as much, which I think is what gave it a little bit more kick in the day. I'm with Ann, I add celery salt and a bit of pepper. Still like it.

After giving it some thought, I agree with the "Celery Theory"! Celery Juice would work also.
Another thought. The Veggies they used "Back in the day" were probably grown differently than today. Today's veggies are more "Genetically Engineered", thus less flavor. The formula may be the same but the veggies are different.

Drinking V8 warm (at room temp) verses cold makes a difference in the taste. More flavor when warm.

It's you. Maybe you've been getting their "LowSodium" version. That's absolutely tasteless.

I've been buying the "low sodium" (for high blood pressure) version for quite a while now. However, It did take (just) a bit of time to get used to the lower sodium version. It could also be that they've lowered the salt content a while back in the regular version. As always, a little fresh lemon juice always helps the juice go down.
Btw, something else I've noticed. Compare the ingredient list for the different sizes. For some unknown (to me) reason, there is a slight difference in the listed ingredients. I most often buy a "six pack" of the smallest cans. I think they're the 5 oz size.

Several years ago, I switched from V8 brand to Store Brand 100% Veggie Juice because of price. Recently found V8 on sale and bought some. It did taste different than I remembered. It was kinda bland. I add Tony's Cajun Seasoning to my store brand stuff and it's pretty good and less in price.

I agree! I have been drinking V8 ever since I was very young. I buy the regular and now have to dose it with Worcestershire sauce or at least a little salt. I thought it was just me. Also I agree about the not-from-concentrate tomato juice, you can really tell the difference.

You are so right! It tastes flat to me. After adding a little celery salt and pepper, it is a bit better.

I agree that it no longer tastes as flavorful. I have been adding a little lemon juice or lime juice to each glass and it really "perks" it up and tastes much better.

I totally agree and have been saying this for a few yrs! It used to have a real bite and wonderfully tasty. I just figured maybe my taste buds were getting old. Maybe the concentrated variety ruined the flavor...I don't know but I got some tomato juice in Indiana that was not from concentrate and boy what a difference! Wish I could remember the label. I drank 4 large cans in a flash! Judy
