The pork sandwiches were fantastic, but when I had the fried chicken I thought I had died and gone to heaven. It's a fantastic place, and I dream about going back.

Re:Outstanding Eastern NC Barbecue (MetroplexJim)

TomatoMustard

douginvirginia

Limited hours are 10 - 3, Wednesday thru Saturday.

It seems like the best places always have such short hours. There's a joint around here that's only open 6am to 11am Mon-Fri that has the best breakfast spread around.

And the name of that place would be???

Have you been to Smoque? I've seen it featured several times on the "foodie shows". http://smoquebbq.com/
Once on the site click "Press" and they have a clip from Guy Fieri's Diners & Dives.
Re:Outstanding Eastern NC Barbecue (TomatoMustard)

douginvirginia

Limited hours are 10 - 3, Wednesday thru Saturday.

It seems like the best places always have such short hours. Well, let me tell you, as much as I like Wilber's in Goldsboro, this place will be my 'go to' stop on the way to my SIL's which is about an hour down the road.

I give Pete Jones' Skylight a perfect 100, but Grady's (rhymes with Daddy's) comes in second at 98 - 99. You can read more here:
http://www.ncbbqsociety.com/trail_pages/gradys_large.html

Slightly off the beaten path between Goldsboro and Mt Olive, your GPS will get you there with no problems.

Limited hours are 10 - 3, Wednesday thru Saturday.
