Ken, I count a total of 24 hot dogs. Don, would you consider editing the title of this thread to read 24 (or 20) hot dogs? Or did you disregard the listings for time-honored offerings such as Nathan's?

I've been to Crif. Since my preferred toppings are Kraut or Chili or just mustard, it was overkill with all the topping choices, but the dogs are prepared with care and done properly, and the place is not pretentious at all. Sorrry, I never heard of Please Don't Tell.

PS: I just realized that Time Out Article actually lists about 20 Hot Dogs. If you click the right arrpw after viewing the last dog on the right, another set of thumbnails appears that you can click on. And they do include Gray's Papaya and Dominick's truck, two of the old school favorites.

I finally got to Dominick's truck just a few weeks ago on my way out to Belmont Race Track for our annual Bobby Day (long story..) reunion. One of the best dirty water dogs I've ever had. It only took me 51 years to get there.

Yeah, 6star, I was just writing elsewhere that I don't "get" Kobe hot dogs, or Kobe ground beef for that matter. I do know that there is a local distributor that sells Kobe hot dogs and other high-end products, and I would presume that Prime 112 (which is a high-priced, celebrity steakhouse) just buys them from such a purveyor.

Here's one that went for $10 at a now-closed restaurant:

The chips and onion relish were housemade. Damned if I could tell what kind of cattle the beef came from, but it was very good!

I wouldn't pay $3.00 for that dog

Maybe my taste buds are starting to fail in my old age, but assuming this Kobe hot dog contains finely ground meat and at least some hot dog spices, how could you ever tell it was made with Kobe beef instead of ordinary domestic beef? It sounds to me like Prime 112 is just taking the suckers for a ride.

It may be 15-inches, and it comes with house-made kraut and fried onions, but that does seem high, although prices at sit-down NYC restaurants can be astronomical. Someone said in another thread that when one enters NYC, think of it as going to a foreign country where the dollar has been devalued.

I looked it up. http://www.brooklyndiner.com/contact.htm It's on 57th Street near Broadway, which is not an inexpensive area.

Unreal. Just as the simple burger has gotten "chef inspired" so has the simple hot dog.
Did you check out some of the prices for some of those? 18.95 for a freaking hot dog!!! Are you kidding me? 11 bucks for 3 corn dogs!!!! Give me a dirty water dog any day.
