Drive up to Punta Gorda and visit Fisherman's Village.

When there try The Village Fish Market. Casual, reasonable and the only place I've ever had fried Ipswich Clams. I went there on three different trips to Florida over the years. It's a must stop for me.

Skip One in Fort Myers was a awesome old school fish maket with great seafood! The shrimp were outstanding. Thanks Buffetbuster and badart.

I second Skip One's! How roadfood is it? You eat with plastic utensils on styrofoam! Fresh fish at it's finest and great conch chowder! Another place is the Fish House on Bonita Beach Rd in Bonita Beach. Eat out on the deck by the water. They have the best conch chowder in the area in my opinion.

Good place for lunch is Paesano's Italian Market in Cape Coral, they have a a cafe attached to the market. Good sandwiches, calamari etc.. In Ft Myers Beach Bonita Bill's is fun right on Estero Bay you order and pay at the counter the grab a place to sit beer burgers fries clearly not a chain

Yes, phatphill is correct. There are too many chains. However, one that you should definitely try is Cantina Laredo, adjacent to the Bell Tower Shops on south U.S. 41. Some of the best, most unusual, Mexican food you've ever had, and a really great atmosphere. Also Ft Myers has Skyline Chili if you're a Cincy chili fan (located next to Sam's Club on south 41). Have a great trip!

Torch Bistro in Punta Gorda is a non-chain place with really good food, reasonably priced, and outstanding service. While eating there a few months ago, the staff noticed that I had a low tire, found me inside, and helped me re-inflate the tire with an electric pump.

Skip One Seafood in Fort Myers is very good.

terrible roadfood area, too many chains, take 5 minutes and go across sanibel bridge to schnappers, great hot dogs, italian sausage, burgers and pizza, do not miss their french fries, you will go back again and again www.schnappershotssanibel.com
