A few years back, I bought a (gently used) Wolfgang Puck panini maker on Craigslist from someone locally for $20.00 with no sales tax. It works great.

We'll be driving I10 and the only interesting thing to eat on our drive will be a Sonoran Dog in Tucson. Long, boring trip!

Going to be in McKinney in a couple weeks if the roads allow it, but only for a day. Staying in Denison.

The Breville toaster oven was rated number one by Cook's Illustrated.

I had a panini maker that I got at the Wm Sonoma outlet store in Memphis. It was a reconditioned one, but it was $30 so I got 2. I let my daughter take it for a weekend and I have never gotten it back. The other one is at my other daughters in Boston, I live in Florida. They are Brevelle brand. Anyway, I want one for myself. I went to Sams club.com and they do not have any Cuisinart. Costco had one for 69.99. Sigh.........Help me!!

Check www.costco.com . Here in Dallas they have an instant rebate of $20 on them until 01/01/13. In any case, as Cuisinart's 'suggested retail' on them is $149 the $69 price in Ocala is not bad.

Do you have the waffle accessory? How well does it work?

We've always talked ourselves out of buying it because of reviews of frequent breakdowns and "cheap feeling". You indicate it's a quality long lasting product?

We've had ours since 2006 and use it frequently. It is a sturdy piece; never a problem with performance.

We do not have the waffle accessory. In fact we hardly ever use the 'griddle' feature' and pretty much use it exclusively as a duplex grill.

lleechef bought a Breville paninni thing recently. She's made some very nice sandwiches with it -- the latest was eggplant, chicken, tomato, basil and fresh mozzarella.

I want another one. Of course, with my current cold I probably wouldn't be able to taste it.

I know you haven't met the Princess yet, but Craigslist is out of the question. When we bought our home here in '06 she groused that it was "used" (built in 1995!). I explored this a bit as the place was absolutely 'as new' immaculate; as a concession I replaced all four "thrones" before she agreed to "reign"!

Fantastic!

Mrs. Metro and I LOVE this product and I really appreciate their support for our "little playpen".

We have enjoyed this "little" appliance for four years now and is is still functionally "like new". I heartily endorse it here and now as I have done several times over the past several years in these Forums.

It is more than just Cuisinarts "take" on the Forman Grill: it has a sear setting that makes for a fantastic "indoor steak" without the smoke and fuss of using a cast iron skillet or grill piece. And clean-up is a snap as the grill (and griddle) plates can be put in the dishwasher.

Even though it is available at Kohl's, Macy's, BB&B, etc. for $99. - $129., I see it always in stock at both Sam's and Costco for $59.

While I'm at it, let me also "plug" CharCrust. I've seen this marvelous product even at the local Wal-Mart. If you can't find it: www.charcrust.com .

"Recipe": get meat (we use ribeye from Sam's or Costco for $6.99/#), rub liberally with CharCrust (we favor the Original Hickory flavor), let the meat rise to room temperature. Set your Griddler to "sear" and sear for 2 minutes; dial the heat down to medium and grill to desired doneness. We get a very juicy "medium well" (Mrs. Metro insists) in 7 additional minutes on a 1.25" cut. Let the meat rest for 5 minutes and enjoy.

I also works great for burgers, chicken breats, and fish; just "fiddle" with the temps for chicken and fish.

(Sorry for all the overuse of "smilies", but if you get a Griddler and use CharCrust, you'll be smiling too!)
