Wow, did Cabrera and Fielder light it up or what?!? Combined .148 average and 1 wind-aided homer in the WS and .218 in the postseason overall. Jhonny Peralta matched them in total HR in less than half as many ABs...Jhonny Peralta!

It was a great game for us Giants fans! After seeing what the Cardinals had done to the Nats, though, it was hard to relax about the game, even with a 6 or 7-point lead. The rain storm at the end was crazy!

Frankly, the reason I am rooting for the Tigers is Jimmy Leyland. Truly a shame that the Captain broke his ankle; "Class Act" in the dictionary is illustrated by his picture.

Jeter is a great baseball player and i just can't hate him. And ichiro brought me so much pleasure. It has been fun watching AROD flounder.

Hard to feel bad about the Yankees, but they still owe the washed-up 37 year-old A-Rod $27.5 million/year for another FIVE YEARS!

(I wonder when the Angels will begin to regret owing the past-his-peak Pujols $24 million/year for the next nine years; the Cards whistled past that graveyard and are leading the Giants in the NLCS)?

It'll be interesting to see what the Yankees do with Jeter in 2013. His range has been diminishing over the past few years and a broken ankle (which can mean a number of things) isn't going to help, but 3B isn't really an option...or is it?

You must be from Pittsburgh, the only time I ever heard everyone refer to him as "Jimmy" Leyland was when I lived out there.

Indeed: born & raised near the Mighty 'Burgh. Leyland's teams of the late '80's early '90's were talent-laden and well managed. Truly sad that the owners did not pony up the $$$ to keep that group together. When they let Barry Bonds go, I quit rooting for the Bucs.

As a DC native, though, the Nats are my "emergency back-up" team. DC has waited a long time for this, and I'm happy for their successful season.

Lived in Arlington - McLean 1978 - 05. As a disappointed Rangers fan, the Nats are my "emergency back-up", too.

What a nice thing that would be for Davey Johnson, a true gentleman who once hit 43 HR in a season, breaking Hornsby's long-standing season record for HR's by a 2nd. baseman.

Going into these playoffs, I felt the Reds were the best team in the playoffs. Losing Johnny Cueto in game one may have cost them a World Series title. Still, there is no excuse for losing the last three games in a row at home.

While Verlander having to pitch a game five definitely hurt the Tigers chances (they would have loved to have had him for game one of the ALCS), I wonder just how tired the winner of the Orioles-Yankees series is going to be. Playing a 12 inning game, then a 13 inning one and then having to turn around and play an (late) afternoon game today, has to very tiring and taxing on the bullpens. That is really asking a lot.

The Texas Rangers: OMG! I haven't seen a collapse like that since the Phillies blew a 6 game lead to the Cards in the last week of the 1964 season!

Put the Reds in that category now, too. 3 games at home and only needing to win 1 to advance to the NLCS...

Since he pitched yesterday, if he works on regular rest Verlander would start for Detroit in games 3 and 7 of the ALCS. I'm sure that's not the scenario the Tigers wanted.

Can't say I'm sorry about the Texas collapse but it was shocking. Hamilton is unpredictable and i wonder where he will end up. I hope for his sake it is not in the new york orBoston cauldron.

Texas starting pitching fell apart after Lewis got hurt and Holland signed a big contract and slacked off. Losing Feliz didn't help either. Jon Daniels should have traded for Grienke instead of Dempster. Young is done as an all-star caliber player; Cruz and Beltre aren't getting any younger. Hamilton will be gone. Good Lord, I think I'm getting depressed!

Of course things could be worse if I were an Angels fan. They will rue the day they signed Pujols for nine more "past his prime" years and, to a lesser extent, Wilson. And let's not forget the mammoth contracts they still owe Hunter and Wells. Where will they find the $$$ to sign Trout when he turns 25 and approached his prime? Suddenly, I feel better!

So I'm rooting for a Detroit v. Washington Series and hope the Nats win. Congrats to Cabrera on his well-deserved triple crown. And it looks like Harper is finding his power stroke at 19.

Cespedes was a fantastic pick up for the A's. Billy Beane rules.

Chris Davis - only 25 and STOLEN from the Rangers by the O's: 34 HR and 84 RBI in 138 games - and the hottest hitter in baseball down the stretch!

Josh Hamilton - despite a good year prior to free agency - definitely not a Ranger next season. The Rangers should have traded him in July and at least gotten some value for him like they did with Texiera. Sadly, the strain of "staying clean" has made him a "head case". What a player he could have been.
