i like to eat at uncle sams in Scottsdale the chicken wings with a pizza lots of times they have a special..,Aj's is great i like trader joes......-and in downtown phoenix on 55 avenue and Thomas---- try the rancho market the best mexican tacos and burritos in the grocery there is a sit down restaurant ..

But at AJ's you really get that for which you pay.
They would do an insane business if one opened here in Collin Co., TX (Plano, McKinney, Frisco, Allen, and Southfork, the "Ewing Ranch").

Probably, but the parent company, Basha's, is in financial trouble, like bankruptcy, so expansion is out of the question right now. They also own Food City, which caters to the hispanic market.

y'all,
AJ's Fine Foods IS a great store. I Drool everytime I'm in there. I have one less than a mile from my house. The Al Freso dining is great. The one near me does Burgers, Sausages etc for lunch and they're good. The Meat & Bakery Departments cases are a work of art! The only drawback? Primo products, Primo prices!

Agreed. It's way too cramped. I get claustrophobic there. But they seem to please their local "demographic".

Their patio is a wonderful place to "take breakfast".

I must say that Scottsdale/PHX is a great place to eat.

From the list, I am happy to see that Donovan's is doing so well in Harris' old location.

And A.J.'s Fine Foods ( http://ajsfinefoods.com/ ) is a rocket-good gourmet grocery that puts our Eatzi's here in Dallas to shame.

Further, in praise of "things Scottsdale", the best men's store I have ever visited for the types of clothing I buy off the rack is "at-ease" in Fashion Square. That store would be a HUGE winner here in Dallas.

(Hell, we even have our own Harkin's Cine Capri here, so why not an A.J.'s and an at-ease? We already have the "steak-house thing" well covered).

Every publication in the Valley seems to think that they need to publish a "Best of Phoenix" list.
This comes from the Major Newspaper in town, The AZ Republic.
There are numerous categories on here so I'll just let you look and pick the ones you're interested in. Many of them wouldn't be considered Roadfood, but some of them are. These picks are primarily the opinion of the Food Critic for the paper, Howard Seftel. He's THE Food Critic in PHX and has been around a while. The paper is in the process of gathering the "People's Choice" Nominations and will publish that later.
