I was contacted by the owner of Goodman's. They indeed do serve a Chicago style dog. I asked a lot of questions to determine if what they offr is authentic in my opinion. Seems it is. Vienna Beef dogs, poppy seed bun from Chicago, and the classic ingredients. Plus he adds cucumbers. The dogs are chargrilled rather than heated in water or steamed. Many (Gold Coast) in Chicago prepare them this way. I will be going next week to try one for myself. The dogs are 7/1 naatural casing. A good size.

The owner also likes Best and will be serving them as a regular dog. Char grilled and natural casing also. He's not sure of the size. Either 4/1 or 5/1.

I just saw a Patch article which mentioned that the new owner ( 10-2012) is introducing a Chicago Hot Dog and Italian Beef. He is originally from Chicago and this is his first restaurant. Has anyone tried either of these?
