I am missing Tony's big time. Here is my version of his Italian Eggs Benedict.

Agostini's toasted Italian Bread, cheese, bacon, roasted hot and sweet peppers, onions, eggs over medium, topped with marinara sauce. Plus a side of ham. Not as good as the Old Guy's, but very good.

stanpnepa, Have you tried Cafe Italia yet? Incredible Italian food. Most entrees are 15 bucks or less.

Very disappointing! I am so glad that I was able to get there at least one time. Tony's was so unique, it had to be seen (and experienced) to be believed. Best wishes to Tony and family!

stanpnepa, It's official, Tony's is gone for good.

I don't think his son, who has manned the grilled for short lengths of time, wanted to spend the rest of his life doing it. Also, I understand that since they were closed, code enforcement wanted the building brought up to code$$$$$.

The sign in Tony's window has been changed from "closed - temporarily (we hope)" to "closed - sorry" and there was a quick blurb in the Citizen's Voice that Tony's is now officially closed.

Joe - I didn't know what happened - and I'm very sorry to hear about Julie. I hope she makes a full recovery and that she and Jimmy enjoy a nice long well-earned retirement. They worked very hard over the years to create a true "gem" with some very innovative and comforting sandwiches/breakfasts. In many ways, it was the Italian sandwich place I had been searching many years for -- and it was only five miles from my house. I always knew it was too good to be true, and sadly now that is the case. I thought their son (who helped out on Saturdays) might take over - but I don't think anyone other than Jimmy ever truly operated that grill - and let's face it -- it's a lot of work.

A change a few years back to my work schedule didn't allow me to get to lunch until after Tony's closed (2pm) - so I hadn't been there much at all. I always told them how I wish I would come more often - and they were always friendly and understanding about it.

While there was plenty of in-your-face politics (like that defaced Obama cutout)-- which could have ticked off half of his potential customers -- there was something so charming about the place that even the most opposed left with a smile and happy tummy.

What memories. The end of an era.

Tony's Restaurant in Kingston has temporarily shut down. Jimmy's(owner)wife(Julie)had a stroke.
