We ate at a restaurant on the water which was more comfortable as the weekend in Myrtle was very cool. 150,000 Harley riders were there.

Across the street was the Broadway beach from our Marriott Hotel. It is similar to Celebration station in Disney on Steroids.

Thanks for the many folks that advised us on where their favorite was located. Sorry we could not get to them all but there are so many!!!!

Paul E. smith
Knoxville, TN
Re:Charlotte and Myrtle Beach (Captain Morgan)

one of the few places around Myrtle where you can actually eat and see the ocean. I hate sweet tartar sauce. Glad you got the soup.
Re:Charlotte and Myrtle Beach (Sundancer7)

Captain Morgan

Sea Captain's house she crab soup has been featured in Southern Living twice. it is decadent...hope you didn't miss it.

We did the Sea Captain's she crab soup along with scallops, shrimp, oysters and flounder with their serving of hushpuppies, cole slaw, salad and fried okra. The seafood was outstanding but I had some issues with their huspuppies. Perhaps it was not what I was use to because it was basically just fried cornbread and their tartar sauce was very sweet. I think that is how the folks in the Carolina's like it but it was not my thing.

Beautiful setting and as I said, the seafood was outstanding. Very nice landscaping.

Paul E. Our favorites are Salt Water Cafe for great seafood (only open for dinner) and Scatori's for great Italian dishes, excellent pizza and reasonable prices. They do lunch as well. Scatori's has a more casual dining area when you enter to the left and a more formal area to the right. They were awesome in that era. The laws changed. Federal inspections forced outsourcing.

I need to try La'Wan's. Looks yummy!!
Re:Charlotte and Myrtle Beach (wanderingjew)

beobee

Prices has gone downhill. Skinny chicken. Just isn't what it used to be.

Landmark-Central Ave. Huge eclectic menu, huge portions. 24hrs. Late night like a circus. Go here to feast. Don't waste it on a burger. Dessert heaven! Bakery in the basement.

Bar-B-Q King. Drive In, eat in car. Never had a bad experience. I've tried just about everything on the menu.

South-21, drive in. Second choice to BBQK. Close call.

Old Hickory House, North Tryon. BBQ, really good Brunswick stew. Ask for a couple "burnt ends" mixed in. Might ask for sauce on side. Home made blue cheese dressing. Beef and pork equally good.

Crave an awesome bahn mi? Le's Bahn Mi, 4520-41 N Tryon St. Mom and Pop, keep it simple venue. Try the squeezed sugar cane drink.

Have fun!
