But i would go with tourteire, bannock, salt cold.
We have regional cooking in this country too.

So poutine for me. MMMM.

Yes..that sounds like a good idea..starting a thread on American National Dish.
Re:New here, long time admirer, first time poster (Foodbme)

 Welcome to Roadfood.
If you had to classify one dish as the National Dish of Canada, what would it be?
Some say Pancakes & Maple Syrup, some say Poutine.
What say you?
That's a tougher question for us Yankees! I think I'll start a thread on that.

Re:New here, long time admirer, first time poster (ann peeples)

 Looking forward to your contributions!
Re:New here, long time admirer, first time poster (mar52)

 Beer is a good thing.

Welcome! Come join us in the other forums.
Re:New here, long time admirer, first time poster (lleechef)

Welcome to Roadfood! And yes, Buffetbuster does have one darn good time trapsing around the country eating and photographing food......especially pie!
Re:New here, long time admirer, first time poster (slaveforpizzaandsushi)

p.s. tradionally, people think of Canadian food as poutine--fries with cheese curds and gravy, maple sugar pie, tourtiere (gently spiced meat in full on pie shell and cover), fiddleheads and cream. At least this is what is popularly presented. And we like beer!

Re:New here, long time admirer, first time poster (slaveforpizzaandsushi)

 Thanks.
I am in Windsor, ON.
We have many pizzerias here. Many are very good. Most are privately owned, but we have the chains as well. I have a little Italy, we a fine selection of fine dining establishments. Due an influx of immigrants from middle east in last twenty years, there are many middle eastern establishments as well, often on the inexpensive side. As my name implies, we have sushi and Japanese eateries as well.
I enjoyed looking at your pics most often, Buffetbuster, and thought..darn this man looks like he is having fun..a nice combo of travel points (historical places, etc) and food, oh food, glorious food.

Re:New here, long time admirer, first time poster (buffetbuster)

 Welcome to Roadfood!
