It just grabbed me. I thought it was fabulous.
Mrs. Sippi made the comment as we headed back out to the interstate and saw all the chains that the people who ate there really missed something. That and the fact that without going into town we would probably never have learned it was Stonewall's home town.

DT
Re:Morgantown, WV (buffetbuster)

 Davwud-
Glad you liked Ritzy Lunch. Did you happen to try one of the Giovanni Burgers? This is a burger on grilled toast with lots of peppers and is a popular item on menus in this part of West Virginia. It is my favorite thing at RL.
Re:Morgantown, WV (Davwud)

We were trying to decide on here or Ritzy Lunch in Clarksburg just down the road. We ended up at RL. Hard to say I'm glad we did when I don't know what we missed. But it does qualify as one of those Mom and Pop places that every roadfoodie MUST visit. Best hot dog chili ever.

DT
Re:Morgantown, WV (Littleman)

Check out the Blue Moose for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Blue Moose Cafe @ 248 Walnut Street, Morgantown, WV 304 - 292 - 8999.
http://www.thebluemoosecafe.com/homepage.htm
Re:Morgantown, WV (wanderingjew)

Buffetbuster is correct- a scheduled stop at Ruby & Ketchy's is slated for this Sunday evening.
I already called and confirmed they are open.
Re:Morgantown, WV (buffetbuster)

We have tried quite a few menu options and we have yet to find something we didn't like. So glad that your visit to Ruby & Ketchy's was as good. No pie?

I believe Wanderingjew is planning on eating there this upcoming weekend!
Morgantown, WV (ImtheMom)

Last week I ate at Ruby & Ketchy's in Morgantown, WV.

Roadfooders who are passionate about supporting family-owned or individually-owned independent restaurants MUST stop and eat here if you are in the Morgantown, WV area. It's practically a moral and ethical imperative, as well as just a simple opportunity for a great home-cooked meal.

My family ate there for Sunday lunch. We had creamed chicken with homemade biscuits (excellent), pulled pork sandwich (excellent), steak salad (excellent) and a fish sandwich (disappointing: small square of fish rather than those big fish sandwiches famous in Pittsburgh area and West Virginia).

The Sterns' review on the Roadfood website, and BuffetBuster's review and photographs of Ruby & Ketchy's contained in a Trip Report about West Virginia and Virginia, tell more of the story. I agree with BuffetBuster's quote "It isn't the type of place where you walk out thinking that was the best meal ever. But, they don't take any shortcuts and they give every single dish an honest effort."
